Subject: RE: 11.26.17 Sunday Morning Training Errr....hitting the long swims and bikes because I'm doing a HIM in early February! (Challenge Wanaka in New Zealand at Tet break. ) Figured at least I can be 2/3 ready! The run will be a matter of "complete" at best. It is what it is. Not a fast course anyway (hilly bike; much of the run is trails/dirt/gravel ), and there's nothing to qualify for, just a bucket-list thing. I was looking at Training Peaks and actually for long rides, I think I am in at least as good of shape as before Worlds. Those hills are going to hurt, though. Supposedly you can simulate them on a trainer (which I haven't been anyway--I wasn't supposed to do high resistance or standing stuff with my foot ) and a watt is a watt yada yada, but as I found out at CDA, it's not really the same!
Sunday AM: No rain for three days prior! Day dawned bright and clear, so I headed to the bike shop to join the 6 AM MTB ride----only to find out I should have checked their site. Special day-long trip today somewhere that you had to reserve van space for in advance. Anyway I needed to be back by noon. So headed back home, unhitched Rover from the trainer, and took him to the industrial park for 2:44 of riding (random finish time--2:32 of workout and 12 minutes back to the smoothie place across the parkway ). First time doing a training ride outside since Worlds. Really--weather has been that awful! |
