Subject: Leg cramps
So last year I had a lot of great runs now that I’m in the off season I’m having a lot of issues with cramping in one of my legs. About .5 miles into a run my leg starts to cramp in the calf area then at about 1 mile it becomes to unbearable to run. The calf muscle becomes rock hard and sore. After I stop running in about 5-10 minutes things get better and the pain goes away.

I have tried stretching and such but it doesn’t seem to work. Any advice??

cramping can be indicative of fatigue, maybe try taking a little time off, rolling, and stretching.

Are you hydrated? Warmed up? Is it cold out? Are you working the muscles too much (overtraining)? Those are all common causes of leg cramping.
