Gretchen, welcome back!!! Way to get right into it! You have a strong foundation so I’m sure you’ll get right into the groove quickly. At least you came back to warmer weather so you can ride outside, this spring has been brutal.

3:20 on the trainer yesterday (stick a pun in my eye) doing Allegheny on Trainer Road and watching Netflix. I think I need to do another FTP test and reset numbers because I felt like I should have been going a couple of gears higher. My backside hurts though!
10 weeks out to IMLP or so. Still debating deferring or to just roll with it. I have some good chunks of time off in June so I should be able to do my peak weeks. May is front loaded with work but I’ll have the last 8 days of the month off. Hoping for some good weather and a chance to ride the course.

6 miles down here yesterday in Raleigh, NC. Whew, humid. T-storm blew in so 4 outside and 2 inside on the treadmill. Everything is soaked, so likely will take the day off to try stuff in the hotel in Manchester, NH tonight.

Shortish swim this morning, just 1100m. Had to get out to pick up a loaner car for my wife to drive this week while I take her car out of town. I asked for a backup camera for my truck for my upcoming birthday. C arranged everything with the shop we always go to and it was only supposed to take them 1/2 a day to install. That was last Wednesday. Now we are at three plus days of work plus they are ordering another part to make the radio work with the camera installed to the existent in-dash screen. Why do the smallest things turn into hassles? Anyway, I'm off today to visit my parents for a couple of days after being gone for a couple of months. That's why we need the loaner, cause I'm not leaving my wife without a car!

Swam Thursday morning...think we got about 2400 yards in. Then I went to masters practice Friday. Felt really good. Started practice off with a bunch of butterfly (my fave), then did 17x100 yards.

Had football yesterday and cracked my jaw on someone's shoulder while running full speed. Think I also have a mild concussion. I'm having a really hard time focusing at work and my head hurts/I'm super tired. Might leave a little early so I can be in my dark house and do something that doesn't involve staring at a screen.

I talked to my neighbor who is a nurse. She said all they would do is tell me to rest my brain. I'm trying to take it easy, but staring at a computer all day for my job makes it tough. I'm working from home tomorrow so I can rest when needed, so hopefully that helps.

Went for a good 3 mile run this morning, felt a good spring in my step. Tomorrow I'm thinking of trying a new strength/fitness class at the gym that is a bit off my usual "swim bike run", hopefully I will survive!

2600 yds in the pool this morning. Felt good, and my head is feeling better. Not 100%, but I made it through the workday without it getting too bad. Gonna swim again tomorrow and then try running Friday morning. It's been awhile...

Sorry for silence, I check in regularly to see how everyone's doing but haven't been doing a good job of updating! the rest of you all are rocking it!

Been trying to run regularly, entering enough 5K's to make sure I don't slack off in between. Riding the bike a bit. I have to start swimming. I'm trying to get into tri training mode but it's been a slow takeoff, I've just been so damn busy. I have my eye on several sprints this summer. If my wetsuit still fits!!!!!

Anyone hear from DQ?

Swam this morning. Was a bit dead from yesterday. Did about 2000 yards.

Having some sharp pain in my jaw today so now I'm a little nervous it's more serious than I thought it was. Fingers crossed it's not.

Another good morning run again today, feeling a little quicker than I have in the past which is good. Unfortunately I skipped out on my gym class yesterday due to a bruised thumb from my sword fighting class on Tuesday. Even with gloves on a solid thwack from a wooden sword can leave quite the bruise!

Traveling this weekend, may try to go for a short run if there is a good scenic route near my hotel. If not, I plan to hit the trails on Monday.

Very ugly, very short swim today at lunch.

I forgot my goggles/lost my goggles and ended up using an old pair that leaked badly and may have had mold inside. Anyway, add that to swimming in the diving well (no lane lines, crazy old dude swimming in a zig-zag pattern) and I only did 600yds before calling it quits.

Had myself a little triathlon retail therapy yesterday...new bike shoes, new goggles (forgot new ones today, lost old ones), new running shoes, new transition bag, and a bike and saddle fitting scheduled for next week. Apparently I decided to spend all of my money yesterday...:P. I'm hoping it will motivate me a little, as I've been sluggish of late.

masters swim this morning 1600m of sprints and other stuff I wasn't prepared for. :D

Off swimming for a couple of weeks now, as I'm getting a tattoo tomorrow and you can't (or I guess, shouldn't) swim after you get a tat to avoid infection and/or damaging the ink. I know, bad timing...

Failed on getting a run in today. I'm now about 5 weeks out from my first tri and haven't run in weeks. Need to get started this weekend! I also haven't biked at all, but that is typical for me.
Bright side, I'm in the best swimming shape I've been in since I quit the swim team in 6th grade!

Whoa, Mark, sword fighting class?! Way cool. My boys want in on that. They’ve done fencing and we have a foil, but sword fighting is a whole different thing. Very fun.

Well, got a text from my sis in law 2 days ago. She’s deferring IMLP to 2019. She’s the reason I was doing it (I still want to go back and hammer out Tremblant) so it’s looking like I will defer as well.
Since I was up to running 10 miles and biking for 3.5 hours I am in the hunt for a HIM or two to do this summer instead. - probably Big George at Lake George again on Labor Day weekend.
I’ll admit I’m a little down about it but all in all it’s probably for the best anyway since I haven’t been training as much as I’d like to be. We have some local sprints and Oly ‘s here too I’ll look into. I need to work speed anyway so it’s an opportunity to embrace.
I toyed with switching to IMMT in August but it’s the same weekend as my father in law’s 70th birthday so even though nothing has been planned yet, I will leave the weekend open just in case.

Had good spin class today. Home for the next week (yay!!!) so I’m looking forward to some outside rides.

Drank a lot this weekend and did not work out at all. Made it to the gym to swim this morning and try to reset my body. Got in 2300 yards. Hope everyone had a wonderful MDW!

I, too, drank a lot his weekend and didn’t get any workouts in. Great minds think alike, Nicole!

Up this morning for the first day of my HIM training plan!! 45’ run on tap this morning, followed by some strength training later this afternoon. I’ve intentionally picked a less intense HIM plan this year to have time for ST.

Tattoo: eye of Horus on my left bicep. I’ll post a pick when I get to a real computer and until then curse the lack of ability to post picks from the app.
