The major local race company in Ohio is discontinuing almost all of their half-iron distance races due to low participation. (If you ask people in Central Ohio about half-iron distance, most only seem to know of the Ironman 70.3. Almost no one knew that there were other options.)

The Muncie Endurathon, 3 hours from here, was purchased by Ironman a few years ago.

I'm wondering if the same is true throughout the rest of the U.S. and internationally?

Rev3, Hits, Musselman, and Incredoubleman come to mind.  I'd say Savageman, but that's been reduced to a 60.0.

Off the top of my head in Florida, there is HITS Naples and Ocala, The Florida Challenge (Clermont), the new Florida Half in Jensen Beach, and the new Challenge Half coming to Daytona.

I can think of 4, right off the top of my head (within a few hours of here).....

Lake Logan
White Lake
Mountains to Main Street
Kinetic

These are all independents. Go to Trifind and filter it for 70.3. You'll get what you're looking for.

As far as I know, Chelanman in eastern Washington is still around, as is Pacific Crest in Sunriver, Oregon. I have done both events, and have seen people wearing race shirts for the 2017 races. Both offer a variety of events up to and including a 70.3 over the course of a weekend, are family-friendly venues, and feature really beautiful, if pretty challenging, courses.

Redman in Okalhoma City, the Toughman series (multiple State), Tinman (70.0) in Kansas, The Bear Lake Brawl in Utah, The TAT (Tulsa Area Triathletes) 70.3 race in Oklahoma, Legend 100 in Kansas, Yellowstone Ironman (no I don't think this is a Tridot race), Montana. and as already said the HITS series.  These are off the top of my head (races I have looked into).  There are a few locally done 70.3 races that go under the radar so be sure to check the local clubs.  These local races usually have fewer than 300 participants but are well organized and work looking into.

HalfMax (Ultramax Productions) race here in St. Louis. Great course. Great race. Hilly run - don't look for a PR at this one.

Tri Fort Worth has a 70.3 and a 140.6 (2018 is the second year for the race).

VTS/MTS runs the following:

Kinetic Half (Lake Anna, VA)
Patriot's Half (Williamsburg, VA)
Waterman's Half (Rock Hall, MD)

Each of them get about 200 -300 entrants, so they're decent size.

They also run Savageman but that's been mentioned above.

Oliver half is still going in British Columbia.

St. Croix is bringing their race back as an independent one (again).

America Multi-Sport still hosts a half distance in muncie. I did both the AMS Muncie Man and the IM 70.3 Muncie. This year dates are Muncie Man June 9 and IM Muncie July 14. I am planning on racing both this year as well in preparation for IM Florida. We have a strong multi-sport team in the area Ragnarok Multi-sport. If you wish to race either of these venues you are welcome to hangout and stage at our pavilion.

Barrelman in Niagara Falls is an awesome race and the largest non branded 70.3. You get to run by the falls twice.
