hi

for the 70.3 in july, i was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction with regards to accommodation

the ironman organisers have advised to recommend driving to B st and 2nd st to get on the shuttle or take a taxi to the shuttle. this sounds like a bit of hassle to me

anyone know of any b&b or hotel that is walking distance to the race/swim start? i would rather have it easy in the morning, and worry about getting back when the race is over

i suppose getting a taxi/uber from any hotel would be the solution but would rather have the option to walk

Well,,,,, you could camp. There are no hotels, anywhere near swim start. And then getting a ride back to the swim start would be um not that easy. The shuttle is really your best option.

I did the Vineman Full in 2011 and we stayed in Santa Rosa.  It was a 45 minute drive to the start and a 20 minute drive from the finish.  We carpooled with another BT'er.  I believe there were about 700 full participants and maybe 500 half participants that day, so they were able to reasonably get 1200 athletes into the swim start.

I think there were a handful of B&B's but no "hotels" at the start.

There was a feature where you could see what other BT'ers were doing the race (if they had it in their "planned races" as well as half/full threads for each race.  I know that traffic has died down over the past few years.

Same for me but different year. I rented a house in Santa Rosa (AirBnB) with two other athletes. It was a nice 3-bedroom home with a pool and garage and in a great neighborhood. I love renting AirBnB properties for races, as you can spread out and cook your own meals (we had a fantastic post race BBQ by the pool!) - AND they are typically much cheaper than individual hotel rooms. But we did have to drive to the venue -- thank goodness the husbands on the trip were great sherpas and good sports!

The race start has shifted 50 miles northeast of the previous starting T1, so way farther away from housing.
