Subject: Switched the site to secure pages (HTTPS) lasts night. Any issues?
Hi all:

We made a technical change overnight last night to make all of the pages HTTPS. There is virtually no way we will ever get 100% of the elements on each page to be secure, since people can upload their own images and link to non-https sites in their posts, etc. That's not the goal. So you may see the "some items on this page are unsecure" note in your browser.

But you will also see the green padlock and secure markings on the pages. Previously we only had this on the payment/subscription pages.

With a change like this, there can always be unintended consequences. If you notice any problems, please post in the support forum or send an email to [email protected]

Thanks!

Workouts aren't synching from Garmin Connect this morning.

Ditto the issue with Garmin Connect.

Also, my Volume and Actual vs. planned graphs just show me a spinny thing.

And when I click on Inspires, it shows me the Inspire and then gives me the "Oops, something went wrong" message which I can dismiss.

Working now - or maybe it just a lot longer than usual.

Android or IOS, and it's just the forums?

We tested both platforms, and the mobile site at http://beginnertriathlete.com/mobile/Forums.html and they seem to be working well with the new updates, but perhaps something was overlooked...

Is this still an issue? It may have been an unrelated problem. If so, can you report back with the browser you are using?

We are still monitoring.

Thanks

Hi Laura,

I was able to reproduce the problem if you visit your training log over non-https, like as if from a bookmark. We'll get a fix uploaded shortly. Thanks for the report.

In the meantime, if you change the address in your browser to HTTPS, it should work

I believe I see the issue. An update has also been uploaded to the mobile site. If you are still encountering issues, please report back.

Thanks!

When I go to log my run, when I hit Device Upload I get the "Oops something's gone wrong error message" as soon as I attempt to select a device. Did it yesterday and today so I'm thinking it's related to these changes...

Thanks!

Using the Garmin Communicator upload, or something different?

I can't even get the communicator plugin to install properly. I'll poke at it some more

Both are good now! Graphs are showing up and Inspires aren't giving an error.

Thanks!

I don't know... I normally attach my watch to the computer, hit device upload, select Garmin, and it finds my device. I have no idea how it communicates...

It's still doing the same thing today, this time from my work computer.

Hi Courtney,

I was able to reproduce the error by installing the plugin on a virtual machine. We're checking into it now.

Thanks

I have a support ticket open with Garmin. We can't get the plugin running without updated site keys, and since this plugin is no longer maintained, there's no way to generate new ones. We'll see what they say.

The site will no longer open using Safari, only with Chrome. This has been true for a couple of sites here, including Training Peaks. But it's new for this one. Maybe connected to my third-world home internet speed.

Unfortunately, I received no reply to my support ticket with Garmin nor my forum post. The plugin was last updated in 2014, but it appears to now be unsupported in favor of Garmin Connect. That option should still work for you.

Unless we receive a response back, we will probably need to remove any mention of the communicator plugin here on BT. I know there were still a few people using that, and it's disappointing, but I'm not sure there's any recourse.

If I do hear back from Garmin with updated site keys, I will be sure to post an update.

That's a new one! I tested the site in a bunch of browsers (including old & new Safari) and they all loaded correctly.

Do you get an error message? Does anyone else have this issue? I'd love to fix it if possible.

Thanks
