Hey BT!  Another week of training ahead!

4:45am:  :45 minutes on the trainer, high cadence work

5:30am: lower body strength + core + stretch

Had a great long run yesterday, however 7 miles into a 10 mile run I took a nasty spill--the usual, bebopping down a rocky trail not paying attention and my toe caught a rock--full on Superman !  Tore a big hole in my favorite running tights and gashed up my knee and hands. Got up, made sure all was good and continued on.  When I walked in all bloody knee and hands my husband just shook his head.  Not the first time I've come home a mess!

Karen, it is amazing how much fitness one can lose, isn't it--but you'll gain it back just as fast.

Have a great day!

At least it was just some tights and some cuts. I broke my big toe when I kicked a rock on a trail run. Didn't see it, somehow, I didn't spill. But it HURT.

Yesterday, my wife ran her first marathon. Kiddos had a great time watching. Really good stuff. It was a beautiful day, and I was able to get in a nice 90' ride that afternoon.

12:15 - 1,500 yards, technique focused.

Have a great day and week!

Hey BT!  I jumped into this week with two feet!

5:00AM:  90 minutes on the trainer, FTP training.  6 x 10'@ FTP (5' RI) w/ WU & CD

12:00PM: 4.67 mile run.  I had some fans pass me on the run today.  They honked the horn and cheered me on.  That usually only happens in races. It was kind of nice to have people yelling my name and cheering me on in a work out.

Have a great day BT!

Really winding back the training volume as I taper towards race day.

515am: 41min ride, power hill sprints with a very easy Z1 recovery between.

I'm jealous of you folks that are able to get up early and workout. My twin boys have decided that they no longer want to sleep at night, which has crushed my desire to get up any earlier than 6 a.m.

Strengthening session focussing on deadlifts, calves, and upper back with some TRX work.

Wind sprints 8 sets x 40 yards followed up with some easy running carrying a sandbag on my shoulders.

37 minutes on the trainer with around 15 1 minute intervals.

Well...I used to work out from 5:30 - 7:00 PM after work every day.  That was my favorite time of the day to work out.  Then I had kids and it all changed.  I could no longer work out after work because my wife had been with the kid(s) all day and come 5:30 she was about to drop.  I would have to be home to give her a break at 5:30.  The kid(s) would be to bed by 7:00 PM so that was about the only time I got to see them all day.  I took my fair share of the kids during the night with the first kid.  I would get up and walk the halls with a crying kids for two ours then my wife would get up nurse them and they were be back to sleep in 5 minutes.  With the 2nd, 3rd kid she would let me stay in bet and get up with the kids nurse them and they would be back to bed in 5 minutes.  That bought me 2-4 more hours a sleep a night while not costing my wife too much more.  The kids do decide they don't want to sleep off and on but that is usually between the hours of 11:00 PM and 3:30AM so at 5:00 AM I am usually in the clear to get up, get dressed in the dark, and sneak out of the house for a work out.  I am back by 7:00 AM and the rest of the house get up around 7:30 AM.  I would rather sleep in to 7:30AM and work out in the evening but 5:00 AM in the only option for me.   :-)

18 months ago I never would have even considered getting up at 5am 6 days a week to train. It was all afteroon work for me. But, like Chris, afternoons are now the only time I get to spend with my daughter so I have become a morning person. Luckily she is a good sleeper so I can get a reasonable night of sleep and get my training done before my wife and daughter wake for the day.
