Full disclosure. I have not watched the Oscars since I was about 14. At a young age I was always curious as to who was recognized as best this or best that....best movie. I soon learned that the next day I could find the complete results and I never watched again.

So my thinkin is, who cares that that they are down 20% viewership from last year? What does that mean anyway? Does ABC charge 20% less for commercials next year? Who cares?! People like me who see the Oscars as Holloywod elites honoring themselves will still think that and those who see it as a 'state of the union' will still believe it so. I think the media - left and right - have put way too much stock in the "Oscars". It's a damg television show! Much rather watch Fast and Loud or Dual Survival if they are on.

I don’t remember the last awards show, much less The Oscars that I watched. They bore me.

I can't seem to find the time to watch either. There was a time when stars were rarely seen. Award shows were a chance to get a glimpse of these people when they weren't on the big screen. People enjoyed that. Now we have 24/7 coverage of them that we can't turn off. Who needs to see Ms. Starlet in a gown when we just saw her chocho last week in high res detail as she exited a limo, wasted out of her gourd.

I think it's the holier than thou attitude that ticks me off the most. Jimmy Kimmel? Where does he get off? Anyone remember "The Man Show." That little bit of work pretty much denies him the right to get on the high horse about anything.

Honestly, could not care less about any of those award shows, they bore me to tears. My wife usually watches them however, but this year opted to go to see Black Panther on Sunday night instead.
