Wanted to start out with a 6:00 mile and go from there. Wasn't sure how it would go considering I haven't been doing speed work or anything. The first mile had a gradual incline and a pretty strong head wind for most of it, but I was tracking on pace. The next mile in the neighbors was a little faster without the wind. Coming out of there I was battling with another runner and we were hit with the headwind and a small hill, which I tried to drop him on. It took a lot out of me, but I could hear his footsteps so I knew I couldn't let up. Going back down the gradual hill now with the wind at our back was a nice way to lead into the finish at the school. I saw the clock as I headed to the line and knew I'd have to really go to break 24 minutes. Didn't quite do it (no net time and watch measuring 4.05 didn't help) but still happy with how it went.

Did a little over 6 easy miles to make it a long run day


No speed work, which is to be expected at this point on my calendar


Had a fun time, nice easy course (despite the wind today), and good post race food. I'd do it again.
