What's considered an Intense Training Session vs a Moderate Training Session. For example if you go for a Walk/Run, and during that workout you Run up Hills with you Heart Rate soaring, and then you walk down and repeat, what does this training classify, over the course of a 60minute session your rate might only go into level 4-5 for 10-15minutes

Dunno....In my mind, a 'moderate" training session leaves me feeling energized for the next few hours. An "intense" one leaves me feeling tired. Just what number of minutes at what % of max would result in those outcomes would vary depending on fitness, workout specifics, etc.

If you enjoy numerical analysis, you could sign up for Training Peaks. If you input or upload the data, it uses metrics such as average % of threshold heart rate, power, or pace, to calculate training intensity (IF), and then uses that value plus (times?) duration to calculate training stress (TSS) for each session. I would guess that IF is a fairly good gauge of how intense a session was, and TSS of how "hard" it was overall on the body. You can also see graphs of the % of time and total minutes spent at various heart rate or power zones.

In my world if you have a workout with intervals going into Z5/Z6, that's intense.

Moderate is Z3. Comfortable pace. Sustainable.

In my world an intense training session is one that results in me texting my coach the middle finger emoji!

Intense training is comes down to the duration and the zone. Even zone 3 training can be intense if sustained for a period that you are not used to. I have been using training peaks recently and it really makes a lot of sense to me to view your current level of fatigue as a function of the intensity of your short term activity in relation to the average intensity of your medium term activity.
