Hey everybody!! I just happened up on your site while looking for training schedules for a beginner. (The only free one I found was on trinewbies.com. Everybody wants me to pay monthly fees. No offense to them, but I'm only doing this for fun. Anybody know of other FREE beginner plans out there.)

I just picked up running about 1 1/2 years ago. I just completed the St. Jude Memphis Marathon on December 6th. It was my first marathon. I finished in 4:41. I was happy just to finish. Now I have my eyes set on an olympic distance triathlon in May.

I have a question and would like some input. I currently have a fairly nice mountain bike. Since I'm not trying to break any records, I'm I going to regret using it for the 25 miles?

Thanks,
Toaje

You can get some faster tires for your mountain bike that are fairly inexpensive and if you are wanting to tri for fun, you will probably be just fine with them. Ron has provided a lot of stuff for free on the website including training plans and he has some plans to introduce some new workouts for all levels after the first of the year.

Welcome!

Still Tri'n,

Welcome Toaje! Congratulations on your marathon. The mountain bike would be fine. I am training on one now as well as others here. The guy at my local bike shop recommended 80psi (high pressure) slick tires for me to make it a little faster.

Thanks to everyone that replied to my post. As for posting a race report for the marathon, I'll think about it. It would be good to show what not to do.
