I have my first tri tomorrow and was wondering if it would be ok to swim with the HR strap on so I wouldn't have to put it on at T1.

Thanks,
Kevin

I've never had a problem swimming with mine on.  Haven't really heard of others with problems either.

I use a one piece tri suit(mantard), and it helps keeps the strap in place.

I use skin tight (which is really scary looking on me) tops and bottoms. I'm not worried about it coming off, but I just wanted to make sure it wouldn't hurt it. It's the new Polar wear-link coded kind...came with my Polar cs200cad.

Thanks,
Kevin

Don't do it man! You'll electrocute yourself.

Seriously, I've swam with mine countless times without a problem, with and without a top.

There should be no problem with the strap.  As far as I know, the electronics are sealed for all the manufacturers.  (Although the Garmin monitor is not safe to take into the pool.)

That said, I don't wear my strap in the water because I could never keep it from slipping down to my waist without maiking it so tight it was uncomfortable.
