Subject: 5.7.18 Monday Morning!

Hey BT, good morning!  

4:45am:  off running, full body strength + stretching

Made it home from Missouri Saturday night. Weirdest thing...overnight I kept waking up to pain in my right foot but would fall back asleep. Sunday morning got out of bed to land on a super painful foot--the top of my foot over my 2nd and 3rd toe was hugely swollen as well as the pad of my foot. It was so swollen my foot felt high centered--I couldn't put my weight on it.  Bummer as I had a 4 hour run to do yesterday.  I spent the day icing it and researching possibilities--seemed like a mix between extensor tendonitis and metatarsalgia.  Started feeling pretty bummed by the end of the day--best remedy is of course rest--but I'm 4 weeks out from my 50K and have some big weekends coming up.  Wouldn't you know it...woke up this morning and all swelling is gone and except for a niggle on the top of the foot, it feels fine!  To be safe I didn't run this morning but seems like I should be good to go tomorrow.  I have no idea what the heck that was all about!

Weird about your foot but hopefully The swelling stays down. Don’t you hate having to rest this close to a race? I did an adventure race yesterday, which in true Texas fashion ended with everyone cooking a steak

Back in Austin for work. Was home for about 16hrs this weekend.

3:30 - 30’ run. It was hot, and my legs felt sluggish after the weekend ride.

Sorry for the late entry, but I typically do my workouts in the evening while our daughter is at swim practice.

Kim, could it be that you had a bug or spider bite on your foot?

Mondays (and Wednesdays) are swim day for me. Yesterday was a distance set at 2800 yards in an hour.

If you were in SE Asia or Australia, I would wonder if you had a scorpion bite. Those can cause really gross but fortunately short-lived swelling, discoloration, and pain. Or possibly you messed up something with shoelaces. I've tied them too tight or in the wrong place and you can end up pinching a nerve that way, especially if your feet swell on a long run.
