Swim
What would you do differently?: I had a solid and steady swim for my current level of swim training. Transition 1
What would you do differently?: More body glide on my knees and ankles so my suit doesn't get stuck...rookie/forgetful mistake. Bike
Comments: Similar to the swim...this was a good ride and performance for my current level of training. It's slower than where I would like to be, but need to put in more consistent work in training to have a faster split. What would you do differently?: I had a somewhat stupid/careless mechanical mistake during the ride. When putting my bike together after travel I didn't check all the screws on my rear water bottle carrier. During the second lap on the bike I almost lost my spare tire and 1 bottle cage. Luckily I had an allen-wrench with me as was able to put the screw back in and tighten everything before completing the rest of the course. This stop probably cost me 3 minutes on the bike. Transition 2
Comments: Long-ish transition area. I also changed my socks which took some extra time. The small transition bags gave me trouble getting my helmet into the bag before I could take off. Run
Comments: This was a really enjoyable run leg for me. I was consistently running 22 minutes per lap, saw my family 2 times per lap, and had a great performance overall. I felt like I was running through the field and gaining lots of places in the standings during the run leg What would you do differently?: No changes, I had a great run. Post race
Warm down: No real warm down, just walking through the recovery area and back to our apartment. What limited your ability to perform faster: I lost a couple minutes on the bike with a mechanical issue. Other than that... Just lack of consistency in training and total training time. I need to spend more time on my bike and regain some speed to lower my overall finishing time. Event comments: Great race and location. This was my first time visiting Lisbon and Portugal. The people were very friendly and welcoming. The race was well run and a great way to visit this beautiful country. Last updated: 2018-04-24 12:00 AM
