Run
Comments: Really fun course with a lot of varied terrain. Covers a ton of the city, including sections through residential areas where there were a lot of spectators in spite of bad weather. Torrential downpours at times, which combined with temps in the mid 40's made for a challenging day. There is a significant run-out downhill section around mi 17, which really shreds the legs before a long flat out and back prior to the finish. IT Band was still a little bit enflamed from 100k trail race that I ran a few weeks prior, but it did not seem to slow me down terribly. Wore my Newton Distance Elites, and reinforced my heels with liquid bandage and KT Tape. Unfortunately not enough to keep my ankles from being a bloody mess by the end. Nevertheless, managed to set new PR. Race always has a theme, and this year it was Monty Python and the Holy Grail centric, which made for some great costumes... What would you do differently?: Get to the start a little earlier and wear socks Post race
Event comments: Awesome race course. Love the themes, and the finishers medal is simply off the hook. The thing is big enough to use as a dinner plate. Only downfall was a lack of post race beer at the venue, but there are plenty of bars within walking distance to grab a cold one afterwards. I am already signed up to race again next year. Freezing cold, so we waited til the last minute to get out of the car and head to the start. Left a little later than we should have and after waiting to get into john ended up not able to make it into the right corral. Had to work through a lot of slower runners at the beginning of race...
