When you're participating in a local race....
And you see race directors from "competing" races volunteering on the run course.

The race I did last weekend had two water stations, each manned by children of racers in the tri club that was sponsoring it.

The Multisport community is pretty tight where I live and it’s common to see people who help organize a competing race volunteering to help at someone else’s race. Maybe it’s just b/c I’m in the Midwest, but we don’t have many of the type A triathlon stereotypes around here. Everyone just wants to have a great time and helps one another to do so.
