Total Time = 1h 05m 39s
Overall Rank = 43/122
Age Group = M35-39
Age Group Rank = 6/7
Pre-race routine:

Ate a couple pieces of bacon, drank an ensure, I think I ate a pop-tart and a couple of grapes. First race in a year and after injuring my knee, I had no expectations of doing well.
Event warmup:

None
Swim
  • 06m 30s
  • 300 meters
  • 02m 10s / 100 meters
Comments:

Seeded start, and so I was number 80. Didn't warm-up because I did not want to try and do anything too fast for fear of injuring myself. So took it nice and easy. I got passed quickly by the guy that started right behind me (I think at 100m mark), but I did pass 2-3 other people.
Transition 1
  • 01m 37s
Comments:

Felt good getting out of the water and running to T1. I was happy that my knee and ankle weren't in pain.
Bike
  • 25m 54s
  • 9 miles
  • 20.85 mile/hr
Comments:

I tried to go harder on the bike than normal because I both wanted to tire myself out more so that I wouldn't try to run faster and because I knew my run was going to be really slow.
Transition 2
  • 01m 30s
Comments:

I am absolutely baffled that my T2 time was only 90 seconds. I put on socks and had lace up shoes which is totally opposite of what I normally wear.
Run
  • 30m 6s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 09m 43s  min/mile
Comments:

Ran at just the right speed. I could have gone a little faster, but didn't want to hurt my joints. But I did notice that I couldn't have gone much faster, simply because I haven't run very much. So that made me kind of sad because I know my fitness level is nowhere near what it used to be.
Post race
Warm down:

Stretched. Got some Gatorade and an orange and a cookie.

Event comments:

Kind of glad that I wasn't able to do SBR and instead had to do this race. It's very short and easy and probably just what I needed to get back into racing.
