Subject: Wet Suit...Wardrobe Malfunction
Last year during my second tri, my wetsuit zipper blew open as I was waiting to get into the water. Admittedly I was about 6lbs over where I was the first time I wore it in May.

Fast Forward to...well...this morning.

5'11 180-184 depending on the day.

I sit typing this in my HUUB size medium wet suit. I am all zipped up and trying to move about in all directions to see if I can re-create this wardrobe malfunction and all seems OK.

Question:

When I bought this, my understanding was get the tightest suit that you can safely put on. I have mobility but it is tight and restrictive.

How restrictive is too restrictive?

I just found out, it tore in the shoulder, big hole.

Looks like I am wetsuit shopping with a race on Sunday. Hahahaha

Many times the biggest problem with wetsuit fit is that people don't get them on properly.  It's MUCH more than just putting your legs and arms in and getting it zipped up.  Spend time getting it pulled ALL THE WAY up in your armpits and crotch.  The arms are especially important because getting the sleeves pulled all the way up into your armpit and over your shoulder frees up your shoulder.  If you don't do this, every stroke you take will be like pulling a giant rubber band as you extend your arm for your swim stroke.  The same, but lesser, for the crotch.....getting the suit pulled ALL THE WAY up frees your hips.

10-4

Thanks for that.

Crotch was pulled all the way up, maybe the arms had some room for improvement.

Cheers,

If the zip is not quite at the top, it can do that

I also have a HUUB. If you have broad shoulders you may be at the limit of a medium.

The HUUB was constricted across the chest, for sure.

I ordered an XTerra vortex, I'll swim in it on Friday and Oli on Sunday.

Hopefully no more malfunctions this week.

Cheers
