Subject: Toxic Masculinity
"Scholars have used the term toxic masculinity to refer to stereotypically masculine gender roles that restrict the kinds of emotions allowable for boys and men to express, including social expectations that men seek to be dominant (the "alpha male") and limit their emotional range primarily to expressions of anger."

"Some authors associated with the mythopoetic men's movement have referred to the social pressures placed upon men to be violent, competitive, independent, and unfeeling as a "toxic" form of masculinity".

Social pressures?

I guess that concept that men and women are simply wired differently is just too hard for people to accept. Ironically, people talk about the "alpha male", a reference to the animal world. Perhaps wolves, dogs, coyotes, deer etc feel the social pressure to be violent, competitive, independent and unfeeling?

I read an article once about a liberal couple who were determined to raise their children 'gender neutral'. They did not dress the boys in blue and the girls in pink. They homeschool them so they were not around other kids. They did not buy them 'gender typical' toys. They found that when they gave their girls dolls, they girls played house with them. When the gave their boys dolls, the boys used them to play swords! Sounds about right.
