1:20 trainer ride followed by a short walk with my wife and dog. It is nice to get outside a little with my wife, who HATES to sweat. She is starting to walk some in prep for a trip to London we are going to take in the fall.

Had a chocolate PB recently that was basically an alcoholic milkshake.

Normally don't do a stout either, but tried this last week:

Definitely a here beer as got it in a cafe 0.5 miles from mine AND the brewery is only 5 miles away and yes it was good!

1 hour on the trainer today in the hotel room. Hoping to get a 30 minute jog in tomorrow.
Lots of eating and beveraging going on here and I’ve put on a few pounds over the last few weeks. Yikes. Trying to rein it in - bought a NutriBullet to have in the hotel room and sticking with oatmeal and eggs in the microwave. Mastering the art of living in a hotel room for two months with only a microwave and mini fridge to work with. Preroasted chickens have been helpful as well. I brought Tupperware so I de-bone the chicken and package it up on a Sunday and get a few days out of one.
I appreciate everyone’s posts, it’s keeping me sane. Haha

I didn't want to post this but the last few weeks I've been feeling a tightness in my chest, especially when I run. it comes and goes, but every time I've run it's been there. This is the cause of the bad week training I was complaining about.

Being a typical stupid male, I've been ignoring it, hoping that it would go away by itself.

Anyway at the end of last week I manned up and went to visit the Dr.

The good news, is ECG and blood tests all look good. The bad news is the Dr can't say what is the cause. So I'm being referred to a cardiologist for more testing, investigation and specialist knowledge. And of course until then, I've been banned from anything other than super low intensity exercise (i.e. walking)

So I'm not sure what this means going forwards. Obviously training is now on hold. All I can do is hope that there is nothing serious and I'm cleared for action again soon.

This sucks.

It's good to listen to your body, good for you for finally going in. My wife learned this lesson over the summer, and now we're both in agreement that if something isn't right, there's probably a reason.

Anyway, it was a good weekend of training.

Friday - Run - Tempo Intervals on treadmill
1.0incline
2mi up, 6.2mph
2x2mi, 1x1mi at 8.1mph, 0.5mi recovery between each at 6.2mph
0.5mi down
8.93mi, 1:11:00

Saturday - Run - Long Run Pace on treadmill
10.65 miles at 7.1mph, 1.0 incline, 1:26:00

Sunday - Swim / Cycle
Swim: 2200m in 58:48, 6x200m pull drill
Ex. Bike: 19.80mi in 1:00:00, 8x 2min hard, 3min easy

Monday - Core Class / Strength
Core Class: 30min tabata sets
Strength: 36 minutes pullups, chinups, dips, shrugs

Have a great week everyone!

Hope everything is okay! That is definitely scary, but good that you went to the doctor to make sure everything is okay. Sending positive vibes!!

I ended up not having time to run yesterday. I try to do too much!

I'm going to go to masters practice tonight to make up for my sucking lately. Then I have a late vball match, so will run tomorrow morning instead of going to swim squad. If I can't run in the morning, I will run after work.

Oh, drank lots of yummy beers from BC Brewery yesterday. And some Guinness of course.

Also, got back on Untappd because the guy I'm dating is on it and drinks lots of beer so figured I would start logging them again. So if anyone is on there, let me know! My handle on there is the same as on here (nicole14e).

Hey, folks.  Been off the grid (again) for the last 3-4 weeks traveling for work and dealing with all that is involved with my wife's FIL passing.  Hopefully life should get its act together here.  No work travel on the books for a while.  Like everyone - REALLY sick of winter.

I've been loosely training...mostly cycling and yoga at this point.

@Andrew - glad to hear it's nothing serious but I hope they figure it out so you have piece of mind; I've dealt with some weird stuff going on in my chest over the years which we found out was more reflux than heart-related (though I do have the athlete's heart flutter and hardening of the heart walls TMI )

@Gretchen - glad the butt is OK!

@John - your foray into self maintenance is admirable - I'm one of those people where even if I do something small like change a cassette (or even a tube after a flat) I'm afraid the bike is going to disintegrate around me LOL

And a big belated welcome to Ryan (I like "here beer" too - there's a new brewery that opened about a mile from my house that I want to try out).

Best of luck bulfrog! Also so sorry about the shooting in Christchurch. Thoughts out to you and your country.

Glad to hear the tests all came back normal. Sorry to hear the docs don't know what is causing your issues. I swear, sometimes that is the most frustrating part of health issues. If I know what is wrong, I can deal with it. It is the not knowing that gets me.

I had Guinness cake yesterday after a ride - quite why I though going out just after a hale storm, whilst it was sleeting, on muddy tracks, straight up a steep hill with no warm up, and then along more mud, up horribly steep canal bridges, all on my road bike seemed a good idea!

Anybody got a spare bit of brain to donate?!?

On the good news front I did my furthest ride this year (only 12.55 miles...short for most of you!!!!) and realised that only eating a small brekkie and a decent sized dinner is not enough the day before! Plus i might get to indulge in some maintenance like firebert  - pats fans fix bikes! Think I'll need some new brake pads after the accidental exfoliation yesterday!

Rest day!!!! This is, in all honesty, going to be more like a rest week for me. Sinus surgery on Thursday is gonna at least knock part of the end of the week out. I am actually hoping to get in a short walk or run that morning before I head to the surgery center. It can't be too big/long/hard through, because I'm not supposed to have anything to drink or eat before surgery, so no water. That's normal, right? To want to squeeze in a workout before you head into surgery (as the patient).

At least it is healthier than what we did in 1998 before my wife had heart surgery. We were in college and we threw a "C might die" party with themed drinks and everything. We took shots right at midnight as the last thing C had to drink or eat before her surgery in the morning. The rest of us continued the party...until her parents showed up at 5am to take her to the hospital. They were NOT impressed with us AT ALL.

Ahhh...youth!

What's the brewery?! My new guy loves them, so if he hasn't already gone, might be a good spot for us to check out.

Also, welcome back! Hope you and your wife/family is doing okay after the loss of her father.

Poole's Island Brewing Company - they're located right off Route 43 towards Martin State Airport.  They JUST opened like a week ago so I doubt he's been there yet.

Wow - tons going on!  Glad so many of you are starting to find the first signs of spring and getting outside again!

Jenn - always good to hear from you.  I have no idea how I would survive never mind have a workout schedule if I was in a hotel room.  Props!

Andrew - sorry about the chest tightness situation.  You've done the right thing and you will get it figured out one way or another.

Gretchen - you deserve a rest week!  Good luck with the surgery and recovery later this week!

Mike - good to hear from you too!  Good luck in getting back into the workout schedule.  It seems like spring is happening fast, Nicole was out playing beach v-ball.  You know on the actual beach.

Sappho - you're mad!  I don't even like to ride in rain never mind sleet and hail!  Sorry for the wipeout (though I will have to use the term 'accidental exfoliation).  Check out SwissStop brake pads for replacements.  There's another brand too that I forget but they are better than the regular Shimano stuff.

My workouts - after my nearly 40 mile ride Saturday, (during which I had to stop at one point, take out one of my insoles, and carry it in my jersey pocket due to a severe hotspot on my foot - happen to anyone else?) - I managed my longest run of the year yesterday, at 7 miles.  Was worried about doing a long run after such a long ride but then I thought of all the iron-distance people for whom a 40 mile ride and 7 mile run would have been Tuesday morning's brick workout, with a 3k yd swim scheduled for Tuesday night.  :D  I'm glad I went out, weather was perfect (like 55 deg and cloudy) and I tried out a new route which I rather liked, fewer road crossings.  I managed to keep pace from mile 1 all the way to mile 7, which for me is almost unheard of unless I start out really slow.

I'm happy with how my fitness is coming along, just need to figure out a race calendar..  It's tough here, there is zero in the heat of summer so there's like a spring race season (March and April) and a fall race season (OCtober and November), and I'm just not used to planning my calendar that way.  It's usually like 5k/10k maybe a duathlon in the spring, tris over the summer, and longer road races in the fall.

Beer - I'm trying to justify a beer store trip, they got their shipment of Kentucky Breakfast Stout in.  They also have some new stuff from Victory and Bells that I want to try out.  The issue is that the KBS is $28 for 4/12 oz bottles....  I love this beer, I don't know if I can justify the cost though, especially while buying other stuff...

Didn't wipe out, fortunately! Was just all the grime/grit that has probabaly aged my cassette/pads by about a year! lol!

Zwift ramp test for me this morning. Ouch! What a way to start the day!

Swim schedules for later today. Much later at the moment, given the way my legs feel.

Hey all. Last week wasn't the best for me training wise, but this weekend was pretty good so far; 2 hr bike Sat, 1700 m swim Sun, & 1:20 bike/40 min run brick last night more or less at race effort.

Welcome Ryan!

Andrew, I always have that mental debate, is this bad enough to see a Dr. about?' That said, I don't mess with heart/chest stuff, I probably wouldn't bother with a missing leg, but chest pain would have me running to the Dr's office!

Gretchen, good luck on your surgery. I might have missed it, but is it a fairly routine procedure, or could there be serious issues?

John, we should put our heads together on races. Other than the Cocoa Beach tri, & trying and Oly in Sept/Oct, I need to nail down my season too. I wouldn't mind doing a couple 5k or 10ks. You MIGHT be able to talk me into a 1/2 marathon for like Oct/Nov. I'll PM you my email address.

Sounds great!  Wouldn't mind doing a Gran Fondo type bike event as well.

So it looks like I might need a 10 miler or HM between now and October 9th for corral placement for the 2020 Dopey Challenge.  Haven't signed up for the Dopey yet but I want to, will just depend on family agreement.  Oct 9th is the deadline for posting a time for corral assignment.  Haven't had too much luck so far in finding an actual (non beach, non trail, actual USAT certified) 10 miler or HM in FL before Oct 9th....  So if you see anything let me know!
