Pre-race routine:

drove out the night before and met up with isis and grabbed some grub and ice cream. Looked over the venue.

slept in 'lovemobile' in parking lot of 'holiday inn express'. had a fantastic night. got up in the am, raring to go!! grabbed some grub from motel's breakfast nook.

Met up with Cappy sparrow and isis at race site. Bit of a hectic scene grabbing race numbers but it;s all good.

Event warmup:

Absolutely GORGEOUS weather!! dazzingly scenic ocean front venue. Not much warm up, just sited the swim course and psyched myself up to do well on the course. Lots of positive self talk. Not looking for a stellar performance but to do well and feel good. lol..drove 2 1/2 hours to race site mainly to avenge last years flat and hip issues!!

Swim
  • 16m 26s
  • 880 yards
  • 01m 52s / 100 yards
Comments:

I was in the 1 st wave!! woohoo!! lol..too bad it was the wrong cap!! should have been the 3rd wave! RD's bad, my good! nah...that would be bad karma to use the race times for swim.

Overall, I had a good swim. Pushed hard but not as hard as duxbury. Navigated tightly around the buoys.

ended up doing the same swim time as last year.

felt really good with the swim. Usually I am a s l o w swimmer and do about a 20 min 1/2 mile.
What would you do differently?:

nothing
Transition 1
  • 01m 42s
Comments:

ran up to t-1. nice grassy surface. Saw the smiling face of Cappy Sparrow along the way!! cool.

transition went smoothly. one peice tri suit helps alot. no socks and no issues there.same time as last year. off to a good start!!
Bike
  • 40m 27s
  • 13.5 miles
  • 20.02 mile/hr
Comments:

well, I avenged my last years fiasco!! Rode my 1990's steel 'nishiki' tri bike. No flats!! Got up some good speed. Kept up a good cadence. Stayed aero.

cut 10 min off of last years bike time.
What would you do differently?:

nothing. gotta check bike out. some of the rear cogs seem to be slipping.
Transition 2
  • 01m 22s
Comments:

smooth transition. had socks all rolled up in shoes. was able to shave 1 min off of last years t-2 time.
Run
  • 30m 47s
  • 4 miles
  • 07m 42s  min/mile
Comments:

Got my running legs right away. got into a comfy but fastish pace. Nothing hurt. Kept up lots of inner positive self talk about making each mile and trying for 8 m/m. able to accomplish that. happy with run. didnt leave anything on the course. cut 4 min of of last year.
What would you do differently?:

nothing
Post race
Warm down:

grabbed a drink, and stretched abit. cheered in isis. Met up with cappy jack, danielle and her cool friend.

hung out with isis and saw her win 1st place in AG!! woohoo!!!

Event comments:

everything good to say about this race. venue is superb. after race cookout was real fun. course fees (steep!! $75) help out the 'myelin' research. miles were marke on run course. all good.
