So we are forecast for up to 15 inches of snow here.  I put some wood in the garage, gassed up the twin's jeep, and head to the local grocery to stock up on liquid provisions.....because it's important to stay hydrated in these times of impending doom.

As I walked through the isles I note the usual empty shelves of bread and milk.  But then I spied something that made my heart sing with joy.....our store is out of.....................bacon!!!

LOL Love it!

I would love to get 15" of snow! The last "big" snow we got was in 2011 when we got 8". I've been here for 29 years and I think that is the most we have ever gotten.

Around here, if there is a mention of light flurries you won't find bread or milk for 100 miles! Always cracks me up. We generally don't drink milk....get it occasionally for cooking or cereal but can live without it. Usually have extra bread in the fridge but again, can live without it. I'm like you, if they are gonna close the roads and I'm stuck at home, I'm stopping by to get some liquid refreshments.

Here is a picture from 2011. We made a snow horse. We 'introduced' our horses to the snow horse....as you can see, they weren't sure what to think of this horse. I think the only reason they were leery of it was because of the bridle which smelled like a horse.

I'm glad my wife doesn't look at this site.....or I'd be in the front yard tomorrow with her building a snow horse too.  That's awesome!  It's gonna be bad enough that she'll make me take her to her barn, so she can ride her nag in the snow tomorrow, instead of just sitting by the fire.  I can't have nothing nice.

Just in case she does have you help build a snowhorse I'll let you in on the secret. I built the structure out of 2x4s....basically stick horse with 4 legs so it would stand by itself....then we added the snow.

Random memory that popped into my head that I will share. Dad said when he was a kid he and his buddies all had stick horses and they rode them all over town. He said the funny thing about those stick horses was when you first got on them they would rear up and buck and dance all around in circles till you could clam them down enough to ride them. Said he rode his stick horse across town to visit his grandmother and when he got there she asked him if he'd ridden that stick horse the whole way. He said, "Yes'm and I feel just as tired as if I'd walked over!"

I've got 6 lbs. of deer and duck curing to start the dehydrator shortly. I'd love to make bacon and I'll do that.  As for the 2x4's.....I'll gladly pay someone to buy them and put them together....while I watch and drink beer.....like a real man.
