So what are you run to bike ratios.  Have they changed over time?

I am interested in what others are doing. Myself, I hate running, and my training (and my races) show it. I usually do about 10 bike miles per run mile. I'm usually pretty close to 1 swim mile per run mile. My goal each month is 10000 yards swimming, 100 miles biking, and 10 miles running. Due to weather around here, I am usually able to make my goal 7 or 8 months out of the year.

In the last month I have decided that my run training was absolute garbage so I started over. I reloaded a Couch to 5k app on my phone, and started doing those workouts. I did skip the first week or so.

Depends on the week, but I shoot for 45-65%. That has gone up over time as I try and get 5 to 6 rides a week. They may vary from an hour to the long rides on weekends, but consistency over time.

So far in 2019 it has been 93% run. Oops.

I was interested in what others do because when I started with the sport I got the advise that I should be at a 4:1 ratio.  I assumed that was for distance and not volume.

The way things worked out I was doing 5 hours on the bike and 3 running for about about a 3.6:1 ration based on distance.

Now I am more like a 5 hour bike to 5 hour run for about a  2.5:1 ratio.

A week ago I hit 3 hours on the  bike trainer and 5 hours running for a 1.5:1 ratio.

I see this downward trend as I have increased my run volume and and dropped the bike volume.  I will likely get back to about 2.5:1 as I increase my bike mileage to train for races but was curious how many people actually used a 4:1 type plan, if the higher run volume plans were gaining more popularity over the higher bike volume plans, and what rules of thumb, if any, others had come across.

When I was working with a coach for HIM distances, pretty consistently something like 3/2/1.5 ratio for bike/run/swim. Maybe the run ratio is a little less for IM training. I did plenty of 5-6 hour rides; don't think any runs beyond 3 hours and really not a whole lot more run volume than for HIM. Most of the additional volume was on the bike; I already was swimming quite a bit for an AG triathlete.

That is all shot to hell now that I am operating with one broken elbow and probably not racing a tri all year. Four weeks of trainer with no running, than am probably just going to focus on running as far as anything race-related goes, with some trainer riding and trying to get back to anything that looks like swimming and will keep me going forward and not sinking.
