Ran from my hotel to a YMCA where I am staying today, got my swim in. Every pool is different, this one was very difficult to judge where the end was. Took me about 400m and a couple of almost head knocks. Added some distance running back to the hotel.

1600m Swim
6 Miles Run

Everything on track, legs are tired during the build phase here, I think that next week I get a "recovery" week.

Cheers,

Steve

Steve,

Impressive.  Getting in solid training while you are on the road.   Ya...I swim in a 15-yard exercise pool at the Wellness Center.  It doesn't have swim lanes or lines on the bottom of the pool or tees on the wall for turn arounds.  Most days I get in a rhythm and know every 5th breath I am at the wall ready to turn around.  Some days I am off either because I am doing drills, swimming a different speed, etc and swim right into the wall.  Usually, I strike it with a leading arm but I hit it with my head once which was not effective swim training.

This morning I did 60-minute on the bike trainer as WU, 3 x 8' over-under intervals from 95-105 % FTP, CD.  I am 10 days out from a Sprint Race.  I start my taper tomorrow.

Nothing too wild here. 1700 yards of pretty slow swimming. Our gym pool has no "T" on the wall as well; I'm okay if the water's clear but it went through about a week last summer when the chemicals were off and the water was opaque white. Bonked into the wall a couple times and then just decided to do the more intense workouts for the week in a lake, and focus on distance swimming and sighting skills in the pool--kind a switch from the usual order of things!

Planned a steady trainer ride but my brain and butt are just sick of the trainer after 6 weeks of 6X per week. 32 minutes of running instead (8 X 4 minutes jog/1 minute walk). Quads still feel pretty sore. No idea why it's such an issue.... They don't bother me during/after biking. Just out of run shape, I guess. It was probably physically harder than a steady trainer ride, but mentally a lot better--outside in really nice weather.

Felt like a rare beautiful day in southern NH so I did some trail work in VT, expanding some singletrack mtb trails, then on to my weekly women's night club ride. Great way to spend a day off work!
