I think I am done with best runs of the year. The last time I had one, I ended up flat on my face and breaking my elbow. Very over enjoying my runs too much anymore. I think I'm just too distractible or something.

One hour trainer ride planned for later today, after PT and some yard work.

Well, last spring, when it was cool in the morning and the days were getting light before my run workouts ended  I was seeing some really light and fast runs.  I thought that all my winter training was paying off and that I was getting faster.  Turned out that I just run faster in the daylight than I do in the dark and that I run faster in the cooler spring mornings.  Once Summer hit my run workouts were right back to where they had been the previous year.  My heart rate when up and my pace did too.  So, my best runs of the year are typically between March-May.  Come June running workouts take on a different strategy. In the fall I am usually ending the end of the season and working on recovery and taking time off so even with the cooler temperatures at the end of the year I do see good run days until the following spring.

Hmmm, I don't remember my best run. It definitely involved trails and friends. Probably dogs, too.

Today was a threshold test run, to establish my training zones (last time I did this was years ago, didn't think I should use old data :P)
I almost wish I waited a day to do this because it was 41F and drizzly, and tomorrow is supposed to be warmer and sunnier. But I've been wanting to do this test run for a while now, so I'm glad it's done!

Bike test next week!

5k run this evening. Easy first mile, upped the pace some for mile 2, and hit 90% effort for the last 1.15 miles.

Felt good to get some faster efforts going after all the slower pace stuff for 70.3 training.
