60 minutes on the trainer...on a NEW TO ME CAAD 10. It's a '15 and came full ultegra with two sets of wheels and carbon bars.

Trainer ride was the same as all others. Saddle seemed comfortable enough.

Hope you all do well today,

Steve

35 minutes on the spin bike. The weather sucked for a ride outside :/

Happy Taco Tuesday!

6:00 AM : 35 minutes on the bike trainer with 4 x 60" at 150% FTP.

Yep, the weather was pretty lousy for outdoor training today.

I might get a swim in later today. We will see how crazy the day gets as it progresses.

Yucky weather here too--cold and periodic drizzle. 65 minutes on the trainer with some Z3 intervals. Plus an hour of painful PT. Fun times! On the plus (??) side, I have an interview with an elementary school in.....Kona.

Interview should be scheduled soon. Actually, it's not my first choice of places to live in Hawaii. Very touristy, high housing prices even by Hawaii standards, periodic effects on air quality from the volcano, too hot and sunny (really) unless you can find a place a bit higher up the slopes, and, if I can't get back into tri again at a high level (and maybe even if I could), I think having a front row seat at the IM World Championships might get really old, really fast. It's one thing if you just like to watch; it's another if you really wish you were competing....Really more enthused about Oahu (I went to grad school there, long ago) or Maui.

On the other hand, if I CAN get back to a reasonable level, there are special Kona slots reserved only for Hawaii residents (on any island). I believe you compete for them at Hawaii 70.3. Possibly Kona proper has its own quota as well. (No, this is not why I am considering Hawaii. Basically I just hate winter. I don't see the point of it, really!)

Just crazy lately. Hawaii must have just opened their mainland recruiting season this week. I have had at least a dozen phone calls or-mails in the past 24 hours and am having to vet them by grade level and location. Which island? How close to the volcano? How close to the nearest hospital? (With an 80 year old mom, don't want to be too far away from the hospital, nor, for breathing, real estate, insurance, sanity, and general safety purposes, too close to the volcano!)

4.6 mile treadmill run in a hot and humid building. Easy pace this evening.

Good luck with the interviews, hopefully you’ll find a school that checks all your boxes.

Hope so--I turned down an interview at one school that was seriously, about 10 miles straight downhill from THE volcano (yes, the one that recently erupted). The lava didn't flow there....this time. Someone told me you can buy a house there for about $20,000. Wonder why?! I imagine recruiting is quite a challenge for them, despite the cheap real estate.

Interviewing with a school in Lahaina, Maui tomorrow and Kona on Thursday; waiting for word on another Maui school (in Wailulku) as well.

Umm... I am not sure about the volcano... Maybe for folks who like a bit more of adrenaline...
What is your prefered choice? I believe you mentioned before, But I forgot...

I like Maui, but Oahu would also be nice, and the latter is a slightly easier move with the cats (one less layer of paperwork). Will see. If nothing soon, will hope for something local.
