Subject: 07.25.2019 Thoroughly Thursday

Howdy BT!

I had a 60-minute over-under bike trainer workout on my schedule for this morning.  Tomorrow had a 30 minute 50% FTP bike workout, but I was thinking that I would have to skip it to do my 12-mile run. So...when I was climbing out of bed in the dark this morning and felt the stiffness in my calves from lactate build-up and felt the stink from recent work-outs I got this idea, why not skip the 60-minute trainer ride today and do the 30-minute recovery ride.  It is supposed to be a recovery week and I am tired of going out of recovery weeks feeling more beat up than I am going into them.  So...30 minutes at 50% FTP it was.  I got 15 minutes more of sleep.  I did a 10-minute recovery pace run following the 30 minutes on the bike.  I don't feel fresh by any means after the reduced workout, but I am sure that next week the workload is going to feel more manageable than it felt last week.

Sup world...

Flew home this morning, and worked from the Home Office for the afternoon. An hour of that was my 7 mile run at 85* or so. I had zero energy going into it, but felt great throughout with my last mile as my best. Goal was to keep HR in check and enjoy the afternoon.

Aboot to head over the gym and pick up my medium sized boy, then BBQ and hang out around the deck tonight.

Sounds like you needed some rest, good call opting for the recovery ride. I took a rest day yesterday as I was feeling a little sluggish after a long meeting yesterday evening. I don’t have a scheduled rest day, I just let it float and I take it when I need it each week.

60 minutes on the trainer tonight.
Easy warm up with a 10 minute build into 25 minutes of FTP work. Eased back down and settled into a cool down. Did the last 10 minutes without AC or fans.
