Swim
Comments: Swim was very comfortable for me. My garmin put me at 2414 so my sighting was bad. My 500’s on garmin were 12.21, 12.55, 11.21, 9.31 What would you do differently?: Try and swim harder Transition 1
Comments: I took my time. I had my cap and goggles off and wet suit below waist by the time I reached strippers. I went on my back and the suit was stripped off in seconds. I had a gel in transition and also went to the bathroom to pee. I walked to transition and walked my bike out. You also have to ride for a few minutes to hit the official transition exit. What would you do differently?: Everything a little faster with more urgency Bike
Comments: I had another gel at the 55 minute mark, another at 1:50. I drank 2 25 oz bottles of water, and a few ounces of Gatorade endurance around the 50 mile mark. I rode harder than my longest training bric workouts. My avg hr on the 2 3hr plus rides I did was 115. I took another gel in bike to run transition also had base salt 2-3 times. My toes were numb for the last 20 miles from shoes being too tight. What would you do differently?: Add calories to my water, and get them way up. Maybe not go as hard on bike. For sure figure out a metric to use for my exertion level and get it dialed in. Because I had no idea if i was going too fast or not. Transition 2
Comments: I took my time here also. Had a gel in transition What would you do differently?: Go faster with more urgency for time Run
Comments: Took a gel about 50 minutes in, another at 1:40, another at 2:15. Had Gatorade endurance and water at every station. Also took a thumb full of base salt 4-5 times. I was dying after first mile. I walked a lot during the run and was relieved to just finish. The heat was unbearable. My toes on right foot were still numb during the run What would you do differently?: Much more fuel Post race
Warm down: None What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of energy during the run from under fueling. Event comments: Race was terrific. Very well organized. Lots of fun. Course was flat and very fast. My only problem was under fueling Last updated: 2019-09-23 12:00 AM
