Comments:

I was feeling confident about my swim all the way until I got into the water. I don't know what it was. I think it might've been nerves as this was my first triathlon in about a decade or it could've been that this pool was 50m instead of the 25m pool I trained in or it could be a combination of both.
I had to stop a couple of times at the end of the lap in order to catch my breath. I really didn't think I'd have to do that. I let several people pass me while I was catching my breath. I think I passed a couple of people when I was swimming.
What would you do differently?:

Train more and longer distances.
Transition 1
  • 03m 18s
Comments:

I felt like I could have planned my transition better. it went OK but I didn't feel like I had a good plan that I had practiced.

Comments:

I had an awesome bike segment. I felt strong the whole time and my bike performed. I was passing a lot of people and you can see that it how far up I moved in my ranking as a result of the bike. After finishing the first lap, I started worrying that I was going to hard and I was going to bonk on the run so I became more cognizant of the effort I was expending. There was twice where I was coming up to pass someone and I saw that there were people coming up on my so I put it high gear and I flew. I was feeling very powerful and I the speed bled off slowly so I was going fast for a while.
What would you do differently?:

I don't know if I would've done anything different on the bike segment. That is how good I felt.
Transition 2
  • 02m 42s
Comments:

I felt like I took a long time putting my socks on and then my shoes. I think I also had trouble finding where my slot was to rack my bike.
What would you do differently?:

Practice.
Run
  • 29m 13s
  • 5 kms
  • 05m 50s  min/km
Comments:

I did not have data from the race on the leg segment so I had to use my own data. I was not too happy with my run. I was pretty wobbly as I was trying to get work my bike legs out. And then I got a cramp in my side that I could not get out. I ended up walking after about 3/4mi. I walked for a minute and then started running again. I was doing good but just felt tired so I walked for another minute at about the 2mi mark. It might've been because of the energy that I expended on the bike but I wouldn't have given up my bike. I then started running again and as I came onto the track and I picked up my pace to a strong run. I was gaining on another guy and I thought I'd fly past him but then he saw me and started sprinting. Of course, that made me start sprinting. We were both at a dead run the last 20m before he started to let up and I passed him a little before the finish line. What I race at the end!
What would you do differently?:

I would've done a little more during my taper week and practiced more bike to run transitions.
Post race
Warm down:

I just walked around waiting for my friends to finish. I was also happy to find out that I beat all of my friends.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Training.

Event comments:

The race overall was very well run but it seems like there could've been more water stations or at least more spread out.
