75’ on the trainer for me this morning. A little later, I have my next PT evaluation to see if all the hard work has been paying off. Still waiting to hear whether the mri is gonna be covered to see why the darn knee doesn’t bend when I tell it to bend!

90’ trainer ride this morning. Ugh. It was a rough one. Bored. I forgot my headphones at work and therefore had no music, no tv, no entertainment. Couldn’t just put the volume on my phone—wife was sleeping and I’m deaf as a post, so I’d have to crank it up to hear it over the trainer.

Later this afternoon, a short run and then wife’s birthday dinner at the local bbq restaurant. Looking forward to that!

Got in a decent swim yesterday morning and some strength work, and today was a mediocre Bikram session and I'll get a short bike ride in at lunch.

I'm still here! Lol

Just a busy couple of weeks. Training has been a little hit or miss, diet could have been better. I've been religious about my Sunday long runs though, usually with the Mrs (pics below). Biking & swimming haven't been as consistent, and yoga has been nonexistent. =/

Sounds like everyone is dealing with sickness & injuries. I'll try to send some warm weather to the rest of you.

Awesome swim this morning with masters 3000yds in just over an hour. That is a combination of being a little faster and my very talkative coach not feeling quite well today. Later, an hour run, but for now, I’m going to play pro triathlete and take a nap!

90’ of steady state, relatively low power trainer riding today. I get my knee mri this afternoon, so hopefully some answers will come about why my leg rarely hurts, but often feels like it isn’t attached at the knee.

1 out of 2 goals met this week. I ran twice when travelling. Although it was one of the slowest, hardest runs I've done in a long long time, forcing myself to go for a run after a 17 hour day (including travelling, and time on site) was very satisfying.

But, I only managed 3hr 20 for the week, so missed 4 hours. This was because I was 1 run, and 1 bike short of what I had been planning. Travel sure sucks the energy out of you

Goals for this week,

1. No travelling, so back into workouts in the morning, at least 5 pre breakfast workouts.
2. Over 5 hours total for the week.

How did every one else go meeting their goals?

Got in another swim in the Bay today - I love open water swimming, even when it's 55 degrees. Was calm in the start and then the wind picked up and took some chop. 5 weeks out from Oceanside 70.3.

Slow mtb in the sleet and snow and mud on Saturday, slow run yesterday (but first 10k in about 18 months).

Wow.  55 degrees.  Can't say I've ever tried that.  Our pool heater broke a few years ago and the pool got down to about 60 and I thought that was awful (all the kid swimmers' lips were turning blue, so they stopped practice LOL).

Good spin class for me on Saturday (really hard), then a pretty good Bikram session yesterday.  Today was a valiant attempt at 6  x 6' over/unders with 4' RBI, held the first four then the wheels came off a bit.

2000m at masters this morning. 1500m continuous (and 59” faster than last week!), but I wasn’t supposed to be focusing on time. :D. Then PT for my knee. Fun fact...got a peak at the MRI preliminary report and it says things like arthritis and bone destruction. Ugh...

So, what’s on your races calendar this year?

Mine looks packed, I hope I can do them all. Tri distances are in metric

5th April 10k run
1st May 10k run
31st May tri (400/20/5)
7th June tri 750/20/5. Swedish sprint championship in my AG. Should qualify for European Championship by walking it.
13th June. 1825m OWS
27th June tri (400/20/5)
14th July Aquathlon (1000/5)
25th July tri (300/16/3)
8th August tri 750/20/5 European championships
29th August. Tri 400/20/5. My little village race which I won 2 years ago. I’m getting my title back!


That’s twice as many events as usual. Maybe a little ambitious but we’ll see...

The goal is to have fun and enjoy the bigger races without getting injured and win the last one

90' on the trainer with another VO2 max session. Fun!! Actually, it was fun. And...I got 11 peak performances in Training Peaks. Don't ask me why, but those little metals really make me happy.

Afterwards I did my PT exercises and some arm work plus a 1' plank (gotta start somewhere). Did you all see the world recrod for planking was just broken at 8:45:11?!?!?! OMFG!! I'd die of boredom!!

Race season is still wide open for me, except MiTi Full 140.6 in August. Waiting to hear from my coach re: his thoughts on my overly ambitious racing schedule.

Just signed up for two bike races in the past week or so, so this s&#^!t is getting real!

4/19  30 minute criterium (Route One Rampage in College Park MD)

5/16  45 minutes criterium  (Wilmington Grand Prix in Wilmington DE)

Both are technical crits, so I'll have my hands full.  At least they're flat so my fat a$$ doesn't get dropped on punchy hill climbs (instead I'll get dropped punching out of the turns ).

I'm also going to start virtual racing on Zwift about mid-April, and I'm waiting on announcements for a couple more spring races but they're slllllooooowww to get their act together.

I'm hoping for a very warm spring so I can get some outside practice and do some cornering drills, etc.

Yeah - saw that, I'm only 8:42:11 short of the record with my 3' PB.  LOL

I'm here! I had man flu last week but am better now. Managed the healthy lunch today and 5 mins arm workout and 20 mins yoga/resistance band exercises. Yay!!!!

 

Leg injury ways better and should be back on my bike (not allowed to commute yet - can't be trusted!) this week too.

Hey, you're the one who said your workout was boring. 

Tomorrow I get to address my climbing weakness with a workout from Sufferfest called "Power Station", lots of low cadence work just over threshold.  I don't have a smart trainer so it's not quite as effective in simulating climbing.  I"m NOT looking forward to this one.

Hi all. I've been a bit off this week. Mostly just doing yoga (doing a 30 days challenge...3/3 so far, with a session planned for this afternoon!). Gonna try to run. Otherwise my shoulder has been killing me so I finally made an appointment to go see an ortho on Friday. Need to make sure this isn't torn, then I can start doing PT and hopefully be better much faster than this seems to be going.

Still gonna try to run when I get home today. It's been beautiful here this week!

19 September Tauranga Half Marathon
Peoples Tri, Mareatai, either sprint or oly, Date TBC (should be early Nov)
Peoples Tri, Mission Bay, either sprint or oly, Date TBC (should be early Dec)
Maybe the first 2 races of the 20/21 summer half marathon series (Dates TBC Race 1 Sept, Race 2, Nov)

Looks like a busy year when I write it all down.
