May you all march forth in your triathlon training.

I was back on the Kurt Kinnect this morning for 60 minutes.  The test that I took in week #2 of my current 16-week plan indicated that I have great endurance but that to increase my FTP that I need to increase my maximum power output.  So I am getting a lot of low cadence work and a lot of sprint work this week.  The protest of my body proves that this is exactly what I need.  I would rather do a 10-minutes interval at 280W and 92 RPM than 10-minutes at 280W and 55 RPM.  Those low gears are difficult and those 10 x 10" all-out sprints are killer too.  It is all in the name of improovement.

I agree on the low RPM training...

I got 70 minutes on the trainer, bright and early, had to have a boy to school at 7:15 and into the office for another long one by 7:30.

Tomorrow might be an early run in the dark and then a swim in the late afternoon. 06/13 isn't as far away as I would like it to be with having swam about 5000m this year.

I love some big gear low cadence work on the trainer. I made some big strides in my cycling last year and I know that was a major part of it. I worked up to set of 15 to 20 minutes of 55-60 RPM on the trainer and that made climbing hills outside a breeze. Also helped with my running resilience as well!

I did a 65 minute trainer session this evening with the majority of it right around sweet spot but also with 10-12 max sprints x30 seconds mixed in just to keep it spicy.

My cold weather cycling stuff came in tonight and i must say that Im pretty impressed with it. I think it will do the job well. Just gotta hope my legs are ready to carry me through 70 miles with over 4k feet of elevation change.
