Swim
  • 12m 7s
  • 400 yards
  • 03m 02s / 100 yards
Comments:

Time includes a roughly 150-yard run back to transition. I exited the pool right at 11 minutes.
Transition 1
  • 01m 47s
Comments:

Sat on a neighbor's upturned bucket and put socks on, figured that'd save time in T2 without much loss here. So...thanks neighbor!!
What would you do differently?:

Only possibility would be to forgo socks. Although, I'll tell you, my bike shoes were certainly much better off afterwards for not having wet feet stuffed into them.
Bike
  • 37m 41s
  • 10 miles
  • 15.92 mile/hr
Comments:

Pretty good bike ride, although end result not as good as I'd hoped. Still, I wanted to be sure and leave something in the tank for the run, something I think I've not done well in my past few races.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing really. Maybe put some additional miles on the bike in training, but not sure what difference it would've made on such a short course.
Transition 2
  • 01m 58s
Comments:

Putting on socks in t! saved time here, but I still had to tie my shoes, which pushed up the time. Given what I remembered of the course, with the grass running, I didn't feel comfortable going with the sockless Zoots, so I stayed with the Hokas, meaning they needed to be tied.
What would you do differently?:

Probably could've worn the Zoots. But considering I got out in under two minutes, I'm fairly pleased.
Run
  • 37m 44s
  • 3 miles
  • 12m 35s  min/mile
Comments:

I hate what my runs have become, but I consider this a pretty good one given the new normal. Using data from the Stryd I was able to maintain a pace within my limits without going crazy, and was able to run each mile faster than previous with a pace around 12:30. Topography of course pushed up the wattage mostly throughout, so I did my best to maintain it at something sustainable. Did this on my standard protocol except added 15 seconds to each run section, subtracting same from walk sections. At the end, with finish in sight, I didn't do the last section of walking and just tried to jog in for that portion until I got to finish.
What would you do differently?:

Given my new running reality and the topographical nature of the course, I think I managed this spot on.
Post race
Warm down:

walked around and sucked down a bottle of water. Did not feel any weirdness or dizziness afterward. Felt fine, which is what we're shooting for.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

My run, whatever's going on with that.

Event comments:

Nice, little neighborhood race that's fun to do. Pool swim makes for water-related worries or concerns; bike course is reasonable with a couple of challenging hills, pretty normal run (except for that tough hill that you've got to do twice). Not sure why we weren't on time, but overall well organized.

Nice work - I had considered doing that race but my schedule didn't allow.  I love pool swim tri's so I'll work on getting one in next year.
