I have created a new spreadsheet for 2023. Somehow someone completely erased last years and I don't think we can get it back. Hopefully we can get some more people to participate this year. Last year was my first year hitting 1000 miles. Good luck everyone!!!

Hey, folks.  Jumping in for the first time since 2014.  I don't think I'm going to get to 1,000 because that's a big jump from last year, but I'm going to give it a go.  Going to be including the walking miles the wife and I do from time to time as we'll be running a little bit during those.  Shooting for 800 total.

Darn...ya...someone erased everything in the 2022 tab.  I got busy in December and never go in to update my miles for December but I would have passed 1000 miles by 10-15%.  I just checked my BT Training log.  The numbers there are as follows

2015:  669.47 miles

2016: 826.81 miles

2017: 621.10 miles

2018: 696.68 miles

2019: 916.19 miles

2020: 920.92 miles

2021: 971.29 miles

2022: 909.59 miles.

It think my BT log was accurate from 2015-2017.  In 2018 I had a coach and so I didn't log everything on my BT log.  Some of my lunch runs didn't get logged on the GPS watch or synced with the BT log and I didn't do manual entries for them like I did other years.  My BT mentor group in 2021 required group member to keep their BT log up-to-date so I made an effort that year to log everything.  I know I hit 1000 miles in 2022.  I am guessing I did in 2019-2021 to but am not sure.  At any rate the 1000 mile challenge pushes me but is very doable.  I should probably up my distance since i have been at static training levels since my coached year in 2018.  I got into a good system in 2018 and have keep all the habits and not changed very much.  I seem to be progressing still and not plateauing.  Some of the pure runners that I hit the trails with on Saturday Mornings reported 3,000+ miles in 2022 so I feel a little bit a pressure from them to up miles a bit.  the true though it that when I want to up my volume swimming is what increases first, then cycling, then running.  So running stays pretty level and bike yo-yo a little, and swimming yo-yo's a lot.

It wasn't me, I swear!

A month in the books and it was one to remember; I got my BQ at a mary mid-month with seven or so minutes to spare. I don't actually age-up for a few more months but my result was a qualifier for 2024 and they use your age as of race date. So..goal accomplished. The qualifying standard for my age was well within my reach so my hope is for a bunch more BQ's if my knees will hold up. But qualify or no, I'm really enjoying the simplicity of spending more of my time running. I'm registered for another marathon in August and the training ramp hopefully means I can log enough miles to get to 1500 for the year.

Best of luck to all with our running challenge..

+1 Congrats.  "I BQ'd", said me never.

Got in a solid start to the year at almost 50 miles total.  Still ramping up slowly so happy with that, and I also had some vacation travel, got sick, a little knee swelling (comes and goes) and had the 50th birthday present diagnostic procedure  this month so had some limiters.

I'm training for an Oly first week of June, trying to qualify for AGNs, using Jack Daniels' 5-to-15K training plan modified for tri training.  In the plan, it says "for those runners training for 5Ks who run 70 miles a week..." LOL so some modifications are necessary.  Just started the speed work part and it felt great to let loose a little on the treadmill this morning.

Welcome to the group!!

Congrats on the BQ. I don't think I will ever be able to do that, But I am always in awe of the people that do!!

Incase you haven't noticed for those looking for a little more of a challenge. I have added a pace rabbit for 2023 miles in 2023!! I am actually going to try and hit this. I've started the year with a bit of an injury and am slowly adding my miles back up so I am behind right now.

Had a little setback with a low back flare up last week which made me bail a 5K race which was supposed to be a fitness test.  Feeling back to the normal annoying back so adding a little mileage this week.  57 miles so far this year.

Thanks - I'm six years  post L4/L5/S1 discectomy and have it pretty much managed now.  Some years have really sucked but the last couple have been about as good as it's going to be.

Got in a good week last week with three solid 4-ish mile runs - up to 65 total for the year.

I had to look up what a discectomy was..just awesome you're getting to go running after that. Every mile must feel like a victory..

Quick update as we haven't had much activity here on the forum (but I see everyone is still getting it done on the spreadsheet).  I had a pretty bad back flare-up at the end of February and I lost about eight weeks of run training getting it tolerable again.  Still lots of walking but I'm behind the 8-ball so to speak on my Olympic tri two weeks from now so will run/walk the run segment.

Between running and walking I'm at about 200 miles for the year so far...most of those run miles were in January and February so a good base but no build.

Good luck at the Oly next week..I've had a couple of races over the years when I walked and compared to not starting the race at all, I'd do it again.
