Thanks Ron! I did it! It was a lot of fun. I wasn't the last person which was what I expected to be. I finished in less than two hours, which was sort of my unofficial goal. I finished the half mile swim faster than I thought I would, but I would have been even faster if I had checked my bearings a little more often. It's hard to swim in a straight line without a line on the bottom of the pool. I tend to veer to my right, so I probably added some distance to the swim. It took me 29 minutes, I think REAL swimmers do it in like 15. Slow but steady that's me.
I kicked butt on the bike though, it was nine miles, only three people passed me and they were young, thin and on much fancier bikes than mine. That took me 30 minutes, speed of 22 mph, then the run, well I never said I was fast, it took me about 42 minutes to run the three miles.
Out of 1175 participants I was 1035 in the swim, 997 in the run and 184 in the bike. See I told you biking was my best sport. Overall I was 909 out of 1175. Not bad for an old fat broad. I'll do it again and train a little harder for the run, and watch where the heck I'm going for the swim.
Thanks for your support. Also, note to self, don't try to put a jersey with no zipper on over a wet bra. It cost me a few extra minutes in the first transition.

Well, I got over my cold just in time and went out with a thought of just doing what I can while still blowing snot out of my nose-how pleasant. Hope nobody was right behind me on the bike portion. :-)
I knocked 13 minutes off my time from last year! Put into consideration last year's event was my first tri ever and I just wanted to finish. Anyway I went from 1:50:54 last year to 1:37:19 and felt really good that day and the day after. No real soreness, just a little tired.
My swim (.46mile) took 13:26 which really surprised me. I felt pretty slow but just kept a steady pace and tried to do sight breathing(still working on that). Felt a little drained running up the sand and started to walk when I heard my husband start cheering me on. Funny how that'll get your feet moving.
15 mile bike was in 48:12. Got aero bars on Saturday at the expo and absolutely loved them! I think it helped quite a bit.
The run was my typical snail pace at 29:27. I knocked 5 minutes off my run time from last year! Been doing alot more running this year and I guess it's paying off.
Overall I felt really good about the whole race, but now I just keep thinking about trying to improve my time. That's a good thing, right? OK, enough rambling. Thanks for the support and nice addition to the forum with the recipes!
