Comments: Felt very large and out of shape, but still raced better than I thought I would. I was trying to break 55 minutes, so 53:29 is pretty solid. Still, two years ago I ran a 48:08, so this was really slow for me historically. Not bad for not having run much ahead of time and being stressed out to the max. I do recall around mile 4 starting to settle in with pace and form, so my endurance is in place for the most part. My watch actually said 6.34 miles at 53:36 total time, so course was a little long. What would you do differently?: Lose weight, run more. I probably ran the best that I could based on previous decisions. Calling the overall run "Bad" below because it is way below my potential. ![]() Post race
Warm down: Did about 2/3 mile around Concord. Felt very, very tired. https://www.strava.com/activities/16393833359 What limited your ability to perform faster: My weight and low training (no speed work) for this type of distance. Family was out of town on Friday, but the night before I went out to the Charlotte FC game and had some beers, a hot dog, and buttery popcorn. So race prep the night before was not very good. I did get some good sleep and then got up, had some coffee and chilled, and got to the race with plenty of time.
Did about a mile slow (10-11 minute miles) and peed and pooped just before starting. Was plenty nervous but was able to keep it under control.
