Swim
  • 31m 18s
  • 1500 yards
  • 02m 05s / 100 yards
Comments:

Horrible navigation, sun killed me and the course was less than ideal, swim parallel to waves makes staying on course tough.
What would you do differently?:

Try and find a new way to sight, Swim into other directional swimmer because the sun was so strong
Transition 1
  • 02m 15s
Comments:

Just not great, can't explain why, but my head was off
What would you do differently?:

??
Bike
  • 1h 20m 13s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 18.59 mile/hr
Comments:

Not bad, but need to work on hill endurance for the future
What would you do differently?:

Weight loss would help. If I was in the shape I was at WF, I would have busted 2:45 here easy.
Transition 2
  • 02m 37s
Comments:

This was the worst T2 ever. Took an extra mintue trying to find rack. Lost both bike shoes (found them later). I was cussing, and yelling. I swore someone took my stuff. Finally found it, but my concentration was screwed for the run. Couldn't even find run out my anger got me that good.
What would you do differently?:

I need to think of a way to help find my rack better.
Run
  • 56m 48s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 09m 09s  min/mile
Comments:

CONCENTRATION THE KEY
What would you do differently?:

Know where my rack is.
Post race
Warm down:

Nothing

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Weight and Base as always, too much work, no evnough training.

Event comments:

This could be a great race with some more sponsors and a little bit better directional aids on the course. Do a Rectangle course for the swim start down the beach and finish at another point. Plenty of room. I nearly got nailed on the ride by a car, because on the main ride back in the foothills, cars are getting mad a race is going on, but they need to close the road or patrol better.

Good Job! When I saw your time I had to go back to the results and check to make sure you weren't the one that blew past me at the finish.

I agree with your comment about the run. It was tougher than I expected. Three of us went down and did the swim and bike course a before the race, so the we knew what to expect. Unfortunately, we did not have time to do any portion of the run, so we scoped it out from the car on the way home. One of the gals had run the course and said it was a piece of cake. Turns out her practice run did not include the entire course!

Oh, I forgot to mention that we solved the bike location issue with balloons. Each of us had a balloon tied to rack next to our bikes. I saw some other ideas such as chalk drawings (too much work for me), bright towel tied to the end of the rack, and some sort of cool bright yellow plastic rod with something on the top (didn't blow around in the breeze and it was VERY easily seen).
