Subject: Hello
I thought after couple of months of lurking, then joining BT - and lurking - I should get into the mix.

I did duathlons and triathlons in high school, but in the past twenty years, I have done more heavy weight training and put on considerable mass. Two years ago my right knee began to give me trouble during running and then lifting. I stopped both and all of my activity went to pot. I blew up to 352 lbs, and could not think of anything i enjoyed doing to get back into it.

My brother and friends of mine have completed the Wyckoff triathlon in NJ in recent years and it sparked a fire in me. I really enjoyed them long ago and training for them removes the monotony of exercise for losing weight. I have a better goal.

I have been training for a little over 2 months and I am down to 308 lbs. I bike and swim well, and really enjoy them both. One month ago I purchased the chi running materials that i found from this webiste and I have not had a remote sense of joint pain in my knee since. I really enjoy running (well, jogging) again.

I am dong a super sprint in Clermont, FL on Oct 21, and I have completed that length a couple of times so i feel good about it. My big goal is the Wyckoff Triathlon in June 2007.

I have been logging my info on the site for a couple of weeks and I spend a lot of time here reading and trying to implement what i can at this point.

I LOVE the site and thank you for sharing your thoughts here, I am inspired.

Welcome. It looks like you are off to a great start and successful triathlon career. Stick with it, you have found the right site..people here are awesome.

I love the avatar. Not too many people realize that Chris Farley went to Marquette University (my avatar explains why I know that). Of course, I said Farley "went" to Marquette....he never did graduate. When you are as funny as him, who needs college?

Welcome aboard!

You have experience so you probably know this, but don't ramp up that mileage too quickly on the run. Us biguns can get hurt that way. Actually, I'm the poster boy for that I think.

Good luck and keep at it.

Welcome Owen and congrats! I started cycling and eventually triathlon for cardio while I was bodybuilding ( almost 15 years ago) so I know how you feel! I'm still usually one of the biggest competitors at the events I race. That's ok though! I love the training, the racing and the lifestyle. You will soon notice how your friends and family are inspired by your drive and dedication! Keep up the GREAT work! Happy Training!

Thanks for the encouragement. I live in Estero (Naples -Bonita Springs area) and my wife and I are training at the same time. She is in much better condition than I, but I am trying to catch her slowly.

I would deifntiely be interested in getting together with the FL BT group. Where do I find out when you get together?

Welcome and mea culpa!

I just had to comment - your username always makes me think of "A Prayer for Owen Meaney."

Closer to you in Sarasota is RedCorvette (Mark). Also, LauraLee.
