Ellen, my wife wants to teach elementary as well

Bear, I think my training takes me up to 3600-3800 yards, 110+ miles biking and 20+ running. I know my coach is not a fan of over doing it in training, so if I do any of the full distances it will only be once or twice in the entire training program.

I should have used quotes....this is what I was replying to...

Silent, how old are you? And what do you consider old?

The bike will be the easiest of my 3 events.  As long as I hold a steady pace and continue to eat and drink regularly, I should come off the bike with enough in my legs to run 10-15 miles.  The rest I probably will suffer through, but I'm finally figuring out the secret to all this is finding your rhythm, the one which you can keep up for hours on end and just stick to it.  My half-Ironman in 4 weeks time will be a good barometer as to how much more I need to work on in the next year.

I can remember years ago the first time I did a century on the bike.  It felt horribly difficult and I swore I'd never do another one.  Now I do 7 or 8 per year and have done a half dozen Double-Centuries.  And the secret was the same...don't start out too hard, hold your pace, and eat and drink more often than you think you should.

Way to go Max. I too, too the plunge and shelled out the cash before the deadline. It seems like a tall order but I have 2 training partners who are doing that IM with me. They both did Wisconsin last year and somehow made me think I am able to do this. One can prepare for ANYthing if given a year...right? I'll see you in Lake Placid!
