Pre-race routine:

Jeff came over last night and we watched a cool documentary my friend had given me on the Badwater 135. This provided comedic material for the ride today, along with the few Borat skits we watched.
Woke up with the Loolee Loolee at 5:30, hit the nearby Dunkin Donuts, and headed to the ride. Got there in great time, and listened to "our song" on the way (Scenario by Tribe Called Quest). Payed (thanks Jeff) and got started. We decided to do 62 miles, down to Trilby and back.
Event warmup:

Laugh, coffee, doughnut, laugh.

Comments:

Great, flat ride. No wind. The Withlacoochee is an awesome place to ride. Shaded and pretty. And it's called the Withlacoochee.
OK, the cookies. At the Sag stops, they had these brilliant creations...cookies with peanut butter and bananas on top. I ate 6 of these. Some were oreos and some were chips ahoy. I also had my secret weapon, Skittles. I ate way too much food out there, but those cookies were awesome! Jeff and I were our normal, obnoxious selves. Laughed about Team America forever. The only voice I can do well is "Gary?". Jeff does all the rest. Then Jeff did this thing on his ex's family that was insanely hilarious! ROBERT! Then we laughed about Borat - when you love the horse...it is like you love the man. You see? You understand? I sang a little bit...had the Snakes on a Plane song in my head all day.
One time someone asked if we were ok. I think we were carrying on quite loudly at that point.
Now, seriously, I was dreading this ride since I have not touched my bike it about a month or 6 weeks or so. But it turned out really, really well. Yes, we went really slow, but it was FUN and that is what I need right now, to have fun and try to remember why I used to love this so much. I do love my bike, it treated me well today. But it seems like forever ago, not just last year, that I was in SUCH good shape and averaging 21 MPH in Olys. I guess I could get back to that again, if I tried. I know I could. But for now I just need to learn to love it again. It was so nice to come home today tired and smelly and sunburned.
The first half was very easy, and I kept thinking that "I feel great!" I kept waiting to feel awful and it never happened. When we hit the half way mark, I decided we should try to at least have a 14 MPH average, so we picked up the pace and got faster as we got closer to the finish. In the last 25 miles, we managed to increase our average pace from 13.6 to 14.6, which was great. It hurt, but it was a good hurt. Very little wind today, too, which helped keep me happy. I am still just so surprised that I was able to do this with so little training lately. And no drafting! None at all!!
Next is the Hilly Hundred in a few weeks, but probably not the full 100. Not yet, anyway.
What would you do differently?:

Not eat so many cookies. Not try to learn to say "water fowl" like Jeff cuz it just can't be done. I can manage a respectable "howyermomanem" but I just can't do the british accent thingy.
Post race
Warm down:

Driving in the car. Texting. Talking to Chippy.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

My fat ass and my bad attitude and my continued dedication to sloth and debauchery.

Woot!

Did the first 29 ish miles with 75 average watts. Go on, laugh. It's pathetic. I think I am THE slowest person in the world with a PT. Speed average was 13.6. Heehee. Last 23.8 miles the power average was 111 and average speed was 16.4.
Wind: None
Course: Mostly flat but with lots of deceptive ups and downs. The only way I knew we were going uphill is I would start to feel tired and my power would go up.

How many Cooters did you see? Rode on that trail before the Cooter Triathlon last year, what a great place to ride.

You're not the slowest person with a PT..you're just, uhhh, efficient.    Yeah, that's it.

I too would like to ride this one, just for the name.

Nice job.  Glad you enjoyed the ride.  I was thinking about doing this ride, but the schedule was rough and the blown hammy didn't help much.
