Comments: Beautiful course and well run, except not enough water stops. There were only 4 spread out on the course, so that's like one drink every 2 miles. I'm thankful that I brought my own drink with me because I wouldn't have been able to handle that. What would you do differently?: Nothing. I just kept looking at the Garmin, trying to keep it around 7:45 and not blow myself up...it worked. I had energy to push it on the last mile. Post race
Warm down: Light jogging, massage. The massage was great. All the food, coffee, etc. (and massage tables) were set up away from the finish area, where everyone was congregating. When I saw the massage tables were empty because nobody realized they were even there, I was thrilled. They must've worked on me for 15-20 minutes because they didn't have anything else to do...it was GREAT! By the time I got off the table, the waiting line was long. (HEE-HEE) What limited your ability to perform faster: Trying to conserve, twisted ankle (could still feel it after the race and had to ice), etc. Event comments: Everything just seemed to turn out right for this race. My pacing, my bringing my own liquid during the race, that nice LOOOOONG massage. Out of everyone, male and female, I was 69th of 315. Not bad for an old lady. Last updated: 2006-10-08 12:00 AM

Got up, made the coffee, did a little stretching before I left the house...was a little sore from the core strengthening class I did yesterday. Decided to wear my Garmin to make sure I didn't go out too fast. Between having twisted my ankle last week and the class yesterday, I thought a little slower would be better.
I wasn't really in a big "A" race mood...just wanted to see how I would do 10 miles, so I probably didn't warmup as much as I should. I figured with a 10-mile run, there'd be plenty of time to warm up well!
