The host hotel for IMKY is The Galt House.  Are there any benefits to staying in the host hotel?  For St. Anthony's the host hotel was fantastic, but you certainly paid for it.  The upside though is the convenience and proximity to the Expo or in this case IM village.  Anyone feel that its worth the convenience?

Any locals have an idea how close IM village is/may be to the Galt, or is it too early to speculate?

I've heard various comments about how inaugural races can tend to have more unforseen things happen than races that have been established.  Meckfessel is listed as the RD here and he's run St. A's up to 2005.  Anyone have any experiences - good or bad with an inaugural race in the HIM/IM distance range?  I guess I'm assuming there might be some cool schwag for a first time race...did they do something for IMAZ when it was in its first year?

Yep, I thought we are all going to get free IPOO jackets, facemasks for the swim and free antibiotics for anything in the river.

I can't wait!

I am not one to want to stay right in the middle of all the madness of the host hotel and an IM seems it would be that much more hectic.  I do like to stay within short walking distance of all the festivities and the host hotel/expo.  I have already booked a room at the Residence Inn by Marriott which my understanding is only a few blocks away, plus they have the kitchenettes in the rooms with full size refrigerators.  This way I have all I need for my extended stay.  Got a good rate of $89/night (military) but I think there is a normal rate of around $99.

Actually, it is funny that everyone is getting riled up because someone is trying to make light of a situation where people are swimming in water (??) for an extended period of time, and this water has been shown to fail the water quality standards of most states.

So...

If kissing a smoker = licking an ash tray
Then swimming in the Ohio = kissing Mr. Hanky!!!!

HammerheadNY...Keep it Up! I got your back

Comet...I guess that means you subscribe to the following school:

If you can s**t, it isn't s**t.
S**t happens, so flow with it.
S**t is the highest good. When s**t happens, it benefits all things

I guess this means I must sign up for Ipoo ASAP.

Question:  Are you planning on doing Ironman Louisville Hammerhead?  If so or if not, do you have anything to add to the questions that were posed in the original post of the thread?  If not, why come in here and hijack a thread with a poor attempt at comedy.  Heck, even if it was a good joke, which it wasn't, it still wouldn't have been an appropriate place to post it.  I think there was a thread on potential names for Ironman Louisville...there would have been your chance to be funny.

You should know that timing is everything in comedy...unfortunately for you, this time you failed!

Possibly in your "humble" oppinion I have failed at my comedic attempt. I am not sure if I am doing Ironman Kentucky. One of my priamry concerns is the river swim and it appears, that there are concenrs from those qualified to draw conclusions about he rivers "health".

Who are those so called "qualified"???  What is the proof that there is a contamination problem that poses a risk?

Do you think the race directors would pick a location that would cause harm for 1500-2500 swimmers...I would give them credit for doing a bit of research.  Sounds like a huge lawsuit for WTC if they knowingly put people in harm's way.

Your call to do the race.  If you decide, I hope to see you there, because I plan on doing the race.  Have fun calling it what you want, no matter what your decision, I just didn't see where this was the place to make a joke completely unrelated to the question posed by the thread's author.  Just my opinion...

Now my part in this thread's hijack is over.  Hopefully some will answer/help with the question posed in the thread.
