Comments:

Just so you understand this race. It is supposed to be a 4.8 mile race. Along the way you have to stop at 3 bars, chug a beer and eat a hot dog. That's right, 4.8 miles, 3 beers, 3 hotdogs.

The course was very well staffed with volunteers until Union Square. Going into the 2nd bar Hockey Mike and I saw the guy in 4th place coming out of the bar, so we knew that we were in 5th and 6th. We ate the 2nd hot dog and drank the 2nd beer. Another 2 guys ran out of the bar a step ahead of us (dropping us to 7 and 8). When our pack got to McGraph Hwy there was no volunteer telling us to turn (she was chatting with the other volunteeer and not manning her post), so we went straight. This lead us the wrong way (the two in fornt of Mike and I and about 10 other guys who followed us) causing us to run an extra mile. Mike and I passed the other two guys and lead our pack to the finish line. All in all we ran an extra mile and that caused us to drop from a possible 5th and 6th to 31st and 32nd.

Event comments:

I am still happy with finishing 32nd, it is just tough when I realize that I should have been 5th or 6th.

This was my fathers first race ever, he finished 150.

Course: Start at Khory's, run up winter hill, stop at Powder house pub for first beer and hot dog. Continue to Powerhouse circle and onto to Davis Square. Continue down to Union Square and stop at Au Tang Anau for the second beer and hot dog. Here is where we got lost, no one was at McGarath High way to tell us to turn and head stright for Khory's, instead we went straight to Sullivan Square and tacked on an extra mile and slipped 25 places.

I agree with Lara! You get special props for being able to run with a couple of dogs and brews in you! That's really funny. I really appreciate volunteers but sometimes I don't know if they realize how much we depend on them. Yesterday during my race, I asked the woman what mileage I was at, and she told me 30 miles. I had already been biking for 2.3 hours, so was depressed. But then I realized that she must be insane! Thank goodness I realized that!

Congrats to you and your father!
