First 13 miles felt great, mile 19 horrible cramp in left quad and hamstring at same time, thought it was gonna be the end. Somehow I managed to run/walk through it. Last5 miles: misery and pain, more cramps in legs/feet, last 1 mile: just pain. Finish line: could not believe it that I finished it.
What would you do differently?:

do more than a 14 mile "long run" during training, however time constraints and work did not permit me to train as I should have in the last 1.5 months before the race.

Event comments:

Just last march 2006, I could not run two miles straight without stopping. Today I ran 26.2. I feel awesome. Also have even greater respect for the Ironman- still seems unattainable,... but a little bit closer then before.

Had a great run...3:54... which put me in the top 25% of the field...not bad for a 52 year old geezer. Broke my previous marathon time by 91 minutes. Interestly, my half marathon split was 1:57 which means I ran the entire race at the same pace...I need a nap...Frankp
