Total Time = 2h 25m 43s
Overall Rank = 13/22
Age Group = 35-39
Age Group Rank = 0/
Pre-race routine:

I had to drive 1.5 hours -- not good for warmup.
I had 3 transition bags ready to go, but no way to get them to the transition area -- need a backpack.
Event warmup:

Not really much at all -- used the first half of the swim to warmup :)
Swim
  • 19m 35s
  • 1000 meters
  • 01m 58s / 100 meters
Comments:

No way to know ranking ... I probably went out too fast
What would you do differently?:

Get a better warmup.
Go to the bathroom LONG before the event
Transition 1
  • 02m 41s
Comments:

Used running shoes and my straps (I don't have clips yet).
What would you do differently?:

Maybe try not wearing socks.
Bike
  • 1h 11m 18s
  • 35 kms
  • 29.45 km/hr
Comments:

Felt good. Early on, seemed like everyone was passing me.
What would you do differently?:

I would take it easier on the hills, I was too eager going up...
Transition 2
  • 01m 52s
Comments:

Because I used straps, no need to change shoes.
Run
  • 50m 15s
  • 10 kms
  • 05m 02s  min/km
Comments:

I went out pretty slowly (or it felt slow), then in the second 5k I turned it up and kept a faster pace to the end.
What would you do differently?:

Probably go a little harder in klicks 3-5, and then again 9 and 10.
I think 7 minute miles should be my goal.
Post race
Warm down:

Not much warmdown.
The 1.5 hour ride home was tough (not moving).
I stopped midway and used the can, stretched some.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Probably just overall specific training.
Also, I took the transitions slowly.
The pre-race was kind of tight.

Event comments:

My first tri! I made my goal (2:30) time, had a good positive overall experience.

I'll answer Madcow, klicks are kilometers.

Qneill I was there and also filed a race report. The race was too hot and humid for me but you had a great race, congrats. My goal was to break 2:50 but I ended up walking half the 10K.

JT,

Thanks for the congrats.
As I said to Madcow, I JUST NOW FOUND the replies to my race report.
I'm still slowly finding this site's bells and whistles. You filed a race report, but I couldn't find it ... can you post a link (or just message me).

Hi madcow.
I started to post a reply, and then saw that I replied already.
P.S. I moved to Austin TX in 2006; the Tri scene here is awesome.
