What limited your ability to perform faster:

I had a stomach bug starting on thursday that continued through sunday. I needed to be eating 3000 calories a day, but I think that was my total intake over those 4 days. Took an Imodium at 7am that kept really bad things from happening. Miles 1-10 were good. 11-15 became interesting. GI distress started in earnest around mile 17. It became so extreme at 20 that I ran maybe 1 of the last 5.5 miles.

I wanted to do it in 4:45, but I am proud of my finish.

Event comments:

only 1 drink station was out of powerade & that was an early stop so no big deal.

What's up with the oranges being so early in the race - and at the narrowest point on the course?????

We were actually late starting, but I didn't notice it.

msampse11 - 2006-11-02 8:17 AM Great race.  Congratulations on completing a marathon!

Let me add to that ... congratulations for completing a marathon while suffering from GI distress the week before (and then during).

Wow - way to pull through after a decidedly NOT fun week - fantastic job!

(I wish the oranges had been a little later on the course, too - but glad they were there at all!

Nice race!  I found that with so much cool scenery, I hardly noticed much distress, stuff that would have caused a DNF in any other race.  Too bad I didn't get a chance to meet you though!
