Hi everyone,

I've been reading your posts (and training logs...) for months and thought I'd finally say hi. Hi!

I come to you from sunny Tempe, AZ, land of balmy winters and Ironmans. I've been here for two years, previously living in the Bay Area, CA, Boston, Providence, and New Jersey. I started cycling while living in Providence, raced a few road races in Boston, and then did a season of cyclocross in California, thus starting my multisport training ("well, I can't ride over the technical sections, so I should probably figure out how running works..". At some point I decided I should try a triathlon, but I had a "swimming" episode in a hotel where a lifeguard asked me if I was drowning while I was trying to make it across the pool. Woops.

I enjoy riding up hills (seriously..!), running on trails, and pretending not to drown when I swim (it's getting better, slowly). I also like beer, food, and not taking myself seriously. I am probably one of the most accident prone people here - I've had huge crashes while having large desert insects spatter in my glasses, I've ridden into building walls checking out hot male cyclists, and my psychotic 90-lb dog makes for some good running stories (have you ever slid down a trail on your butt because your dog saw a piece of paper blowing in the wind?).

I look forward to reading your posts and learning more about this nutty sport!

Welcome to BT!!!

Hang in there with the swimming.  I'd look into taking lessons at a local Y or health club.  It can be really helpful.
