Pre-race routine:

Woke up @ 4:30 ate some vector. Headed to agassiz to get on the team bus. Only 4 people all day so kind of boring. Was supposed to go for dinner after but ended up helping with the sickies at home!
Event warmup:

Just a quick walk.
Run
  • 1h 06m
  • 13.51 kms
  • 04m 53s  min/km
Comments:

Run was ok. I went out a bit too fast. Here is a version. Leg 2 is mostly one long up and down the whole way finishing with about 1 k of downhill.
I went out and waited with my mp3 and hopped around to keep warm waiting for my relay member to show up. He did and I took off. WIth that I started out way to fast and did a 6:30 for the first mile. OUCH. THat would come back to haunt me. I thought one of our 4 teams from the vedder running club was way ahead. SO I took off to catch him. Kept passing people and then found out at the end that I left before him. Well about 2 miles in it started to drizzle. I said to my self, I can handle this. its only a slight drizzle. As soon as I said drizzle in my head, the skys opened up and it poured. Not just a little. It was like running through a water fall. Nice. But I kept positive, saying that it is better than running through the hot sun. My mp3 player was blaring, my team was yelling at me telling me I am doing good. THen I almost puked. I was going hard. too much water at the start, but good afterwards. One lady asked if I was ok. I was dry heaving when I was running. Only was passed by 2 people and jumped our team up 22 notches on the ladder.
What would you do differently?:

Not go out too fast. Try and not drink right before the run.
Let god know how I feel about pouring a waterfall on me when I run.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around. Stretched. Proceeded to get naked and change.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Weight and training. Too much and not enough.

Event comments:

This race is a team race. Unless you want to do 100k on your own. Team is what makes the day fun. You need to have a good team to have a good race. Some people do not like that since they feel they could let others down based on poor performance. You have to discuss that with your team prior.Oh and the girls like it when you get naked apparently.

Good job on this leg! Did you enjoy your vector with milk or yogurt ?

So glad I wasn't out there....that rain was absolutely incredible!

AND you managed one of my "secret" long range goals!

Running til you puke? or gettting naked in public?

Oh, and that was with MILK not that concoction you came up with

Good job, Dan!

My favourite part is the dry heaving while running. That's ballsy. I totally would have stopped to dry heave.
