Your 'Old' Fat Clothes

very good question i'm asking myself right now... i have a huge dresser full of clothes and nothing to wear... literaly!!!! lol

i don't really want to donate most of the stuff cuz there are two options:
1. throw it in one of the red cross containers which are rented out to a huge second hand chain and it'll get sold

2. donate it to a so called "kleiderkammer" - it's a place where lazy people who don't want to work or who thought they had to have 8 kids and can't afford them go to get clothes... and since i'm already supporting people like that with a huge share of my paycheck i don't feel like that either... might sound weird, but we seriously have a problem with those people here in germany...

 i was thinking about selling some of the stuff on ebay since some of those clothes are almost new and really nice.. in germany we don't have a lot of places where you can buy a size 20 or 22 that doesn't look like you stole it from grandma's closet...

maybe we should open a thread and take pictures of our old clothes... as we're all in the weightloss process most of us will go through a couple of sizes so it's not really worth spending too much money on clothing - we're (hopefully) not gonna be wearing it for too long so if anyone's interested in all kinds of clothing in the sizes 16 - 20 shoot me a pm or answer here - i can put together a list with pictures

Why don't you shop at Salvation Army too?  Or similar places like discount stores?  Save some money that way.

I gave all mine away to Goodwill.  I should get a huge tax deduction as I was 250+ for more than 25 years and had a closet full of stuff.  Wonder if the IRS will take before/after pics as proof I gave away an entire wardrobe.

In still working with 3 pairs of jeans in my current size as I want to lose more and dont want to have to give to much away next time. 

I kept my old belt as a measure of how large my waist used to be. 

Great topic!  I've lost 24 lbs since I had stomach surgery last month, and everything is big on me.  Its only now that I'm happy I'm a shop-a-holic because I had stored away a bunch of clothes and t-shirts in smaller sizes.  My sister-in-law helped me go through some jeans I kept, and found 5 pairs of black jeans, one of which I'm wearing now.  I only wish I'd bought them in various sizes.  I plan to give away my old clothes to Goodwill, and some of the tops to my mom.  I just went to Goodwill last weekend and found a pair a jeans in pretty good shape for $4.  I plan to shop there while I lose this weight.  But I'm soooo looking forward to going shopping for new clothes once I reach my goal weight.

I've done various things will my old "Fat" clothes.. I did hang on to one pair of jeans just as a reminder, of where I dont want to be again.  I've donated clothes to both goodwill and salvation army, gave some to my sister, had some taken in by my mom about 2 sizes is the max you can take in, elastic does wonder in pants.  I also was able to send some clothes to a fellow BT'er after Katrina last year that helped her and some other ladies out. 

It was good thing is that I held on to all my skinny clothes as I got fat. That way I had clothes to "shrink" into. As I started loosing again I decided that I did not want to keep the "fat" clothes around. My really big clothes I donated to goodwill. The next size down I gave to my brother. I have now lost nearly 10inches from the waist and all my smallest clothes (some over 10 years old) are too big on me. Time to get shopping. My clothes now will probably also go to goodwill.

The majority of my clothes have gone to charity.. but I have consigned some as well.  It has taken me over a year to shed 35+ pounds, and I'm one of those people who doesn't feel comfortable going to work in clothes that are too big.  So I practically bought a new set of clothes every time I went down a size.   Losing weight is expensive!

I do have one pair of 'fat jeans' that make an appearance every couple of months.  I'll put them on and come running out of the bedroom, holding the jeans out at the waistline as if I were mocking a weight-loss commercial.. exclaiming "I used to weigh THIS much!  But with triathlons, I now weigh (drop jeans) THIS much!"  Yeah.  It got some laughs at the start.  Now my bf just rolls his eyes.
