I saw one from Bobby Flay on the CBS Sunday morning show but cant find the recipe anywhere. It had cranberry, OJ, mangos and maple syrup in it.  Mmm mmm Mmm!  But, no recipe = no sauce unless I free ball it.  So, do any of you have a really good homemade cranberry sauce recipe? No canned stuff!

YES! and easy too.

4 cups fresh or frozen cranberries
2-3 oranges
1 tsp orange zest
1/2 cup sugar, more or less to taste

blend all in a food processor until blended. the recipe i have actually calls for a cup of sugar but then its WAY too sweet (in my opinion). this year i think i'm going to add some cointreau.

Man, I love that stuff right out of the can. I even like the can marks on the jellied kind, when it comes out in a solid block. Mmmm mmmm.

Cointreau is a great addition to cranberry sauce. Personally I don't blend it though, just cook it until the berries start to pop.

I might have to get all experimental this year.  Usually I just use the recipe on the back of the bag of cranberries: sugar, berries, heat.

Did you know that left over cranberry sauce is really really good in plain yogurt?  It is!

NPR has a long-standing Thanksgiving tradition of having Susan Stamberg do a story on her mother's cranberry relish.  Here's the recipe

This recipe is absolutely unique.  In addition to cranberries and sugar, it has sour cream, horseradish and onion.  I've never tried it.

Nope.  If it's not out of the can, it's not Thanksgiving as far as my husband is concerned.  And I can't cut it into slices either, it actually just has to sit on the plate, in the shape of the can until it's time to eat it.  He's usually a tad more sophisticated than that - but it's one of those "happy childhood memory Thanksgiving tradition" things.  And since neither one of us has very many happy childhood memories, we cling ridigily to the ones we do have.

So canned shaped cranberry goo it is!!!!
