Total Time = 43m 11s
Overall Rank = 138/2135
Age Group = 30-24
Age Group Rank = 12/135
Pre-race routine:

Took some sports legs capsules and drank some water. Walked the dogs over to get my race # and t-shirt.
Event warmup:

Stretched while in the bathroom line. Jogged for a minute and then shook the legs a few times and waited for the start.
Run
  • 43m 11s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 06m 57s  min/mile
Comments:

I ran well for the first 2 1/2 miles, but then my cold and lack of training due to the cold caught up with me. I was able to hold on to keep my pace under 7 minute per mile pace, so I am happy considering how I have been feeling.
What would you do differently?:

Since I was feeling dehydrated at the start because of the cold I have, I wanted to get water at the first mile aid station, but there was none ready when I went by and missed it. I think it would have at least helped me keep going along stronger before the cold caught up to me.
Post race
Warm down:

Went and got the dogs and walked them around a little. Looked at the Pearl Izumi tent and all the new Pearl Izumi shoes.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

My headcold.

Event comments:

There is a strange guy that wears a turkey outfit that is like a NFL team mascot costume. If you beat him, you get a certificate that says "I beat the Turkey!" I can't see why that guy would want to run in that thing... kudos to him. I guess he runs around 45 minutes every year in that thing too.

You're an animal!  Being able to run that pace with a cold...very nice.
